Imbue Arrow AoE missout

Post by gotesu »

Description of Bug Experienced:
Almost 100% instances of just launching an imbue arrow (buffed/ unbuffed/ running/standing shooter/ running/standing targets / Targeting self/targeting friendly/targeting hostile).

Steps to reproduce the Bug:
Use imbue arrow.

Expected Result:
All enemies in AoE suffer dmg (according to Ref save roll).

Actual Result:
Not all enemies are affected at all (not even a save), in fact - most of the times only 1 or 2 are affected.

Server:
Distant Shores

Thank you

That's an issue with the "GetNextObjectInShape" function of Neverwinter Nights. Not much we can do on our end besides using a quite elaborate workaround that then limits the abilities to targeting creatures (rather than creatures and placeables).

Thank you for the quick reply!

Perhaps making it unable to target placeables for now is better if it hits all creatures properly? I would assume it's more commonly used to kill critters than to target fixture.

I would also agree that it'd be better to just drop placeable damage if it means reliably hitting enemies, as is the ability is just, quite literally useless... you fire it into a crowd hoping to do aoe damage and it only hits your target and 1 or maybe 2 additional enemies, before even worrying about if they make the save or not.

I am curious, however, how fireball and custom aoe spells don't run into this problem when this does. Is there some reason the function works properly with actual spells? Or do they just have access to other methods that custom feats like this don't for some reason?

Im not sure fireball is party friendly but that could be part of the mystery as imbue arrow is party friendly but i also agree on maybe removing fixtures from its list if it makes it actually work

When the server has just been reset the imbue seems to work fine so maybe its related to latency or script lag
