Vasyrin Auvryndar - Kudos

Post by In passion, patience »

A wild ride cut short!

Due to declining health, I've taken the decision to prematurely roll Vasyrin. To describe the last year-or-so playing Vasyrin as fun would be the understatement of the century. It's been great RPing with the amazing players of the UD and Surface alike. From the interpersonal plotlines to the overarching war, I only have good things to say about my time, experience and interactions both above and below. This is why I've chosen to pen down a kudos to characters and individuals that have impacted both me and Vasyrin throughout the latter's stay in Andunor. I'd like to apologise ahead of time if I've forgotten anyone. There's been so many good experiences that I'll probably be missing a few.

I'll begin with a kudos to the Admin Team and the DM Team for being supportive and helpful throughout my stay. A special kudos for Twohand, Titania, Honey and Herald - for being willing to listen to my ideas, humour them, and generally enhance the madness that was Vasyrin's undertakings throughout her reign.

Next, a huge, massive kudos to House Auvryndar. Chaverin, Baeriina, Livia, Harkon, Draghorvir, Jhul'ara, Saverin, Ilmryn, Lohenlin, Vieszar, Zhilviir, T'risfalee, Nervhil'ar, Drozen, Malynrae, Syndril, Aunrae, Ilpharis, Ilphrin, Ur'laonar, Rauva, Anasva, Vahl, Evul'luin, Venissil, Xveven. You're all amazing players with great, deep, interesting and awesome characters bearing plenty to offer. Whether full-blooded members, retainers, slaves or house friends/employees, you've contributed massively to the storylines that defined Vasyrin, her reign and her War on the Light. I could have never asked for a better roster and I'm thankful to you all for having joined me on this wild ride. A special double-kudos to the players as House Auvryndar never had OOC channels of communication, like a discord server. Everything had to be organised IC, and that takes a certain measure of dedication and patience to pull off, so kudos to you!

A big kudos to the Sharps - from Argon, to Roffin, to Myryn, and everyone in-between. The Table went from being an enemy of the Sharps, to its domineering rival, and finally its strongest ally. Each Tyrant/Tharchion of the Sharps brought a different kind of RP and flavour, all united by their richness and depth. A special kudos to Roffin and Myryn, both characters that have shared roughly the same timeline. Interacting with the pair of you has been nothing short of a blast, from the personal aspect of it all the way into the greater, political narrative. You've both set the greatest example of what the Sharps can achieve when it supplements its warlike culture with a great desire for RP, the creation and nurturing of storylines, and inclusivity for all kinds of evil.

A kudos to Greyport and the Iron Citadel. Lilith and Johnathan - you two are staples of Andunor. You've been around for as long as I've played Arelith and I look forward to meeting you with future characters and endeavours. A special kudos to Johnathan for RPing a very interesting character that's always full of surprises and intrigue. I'll always (and fondly) remember Vasyrin and Johnathan's adventures across the Underdark and the Surface. Next, a big kudos to Akorae and her entourage. Superb RP, superb take on the Ilythiiri religious divide/war. You're a shining example of how to wage a war without necessarily resorting to unending PvP and I commend you for it. The friendship/rivalry Akorae and Vasyrin enjoyed was a blast from start to finish. Likewise, a kudos to Elona and Iebrol for the fun rivalry while that lasted.

A huge kudos to houses Xun'viir and Z'ress. Faeris, Balok, Vizzyr and Wanre in particular. Amazing and deep characters in their own rights, bearing the legacy of their respective houses, each a plethora of years old! Faeris is the perfect Frethian/Lolthian. The depth of the character is only rivalled by the friendliness of the player. I'm thankful to have experienced Faeris through the lens of Vasyrin. You're a perfect example of how RP should be conducted; it's a story written and shared by many, and never a competition! Likewise, a big kudos to the Shadowclaw - especially Valks and Arachne - for being inclusive, supportive and very friendly in spite of their seniority for what concerns Andunorian politics.

Last but not least, a big kudos to the Surface/Light. Brogendenstein, Myon and Cordor in particular. I thoroughly enjoyed Vasyrin's encounters with Snorri, as well as Gabriel, Rosette and Thomas. Amazing RP. It was lots of fun delving into the philosophy/psychology of evil with Snorri and Gabriel, and likewise a joy to join Thomas in on some careful Cordor-to-Table politicking. The bit of RP with Myon's Elora was also a great deal of fun. I hope that the War on the Light has created as many storylines for you, as it has for us!

I'm certain I've missed a few names and factions, and I'd like to apologise in advance for that! It is my sincere hope that I've been able to give back to the community as much as I've received from it. Until next we meet, and;

Lloth tlu malla.

Time spent with Vasyrin was the best time I had in this server, maybe even in any video game. I'm saddened to hear about your health and I wish you a swift recovery and happiness.

Thank you for the good times and all the hard work you put in!

I've long said it's no fun to play an apostate without Lolthites to oppose. Vasyrin breathed fresh new life into religion in Andunor, setting a foundation for the future. Well done.

Akorae will always have a bottle of wine and bucket of flux lampreys set aside for her!

I exist to describe the world around us.

Akorae - Traveling to find happiness.
Yrsa Hakondottir - returned to Ruathym
Xifali'ae - sleeping with the fishies
Keth'ym Evanara - wandering better paths
Veriel Xyrdan - married and happy
Reena Welkins - dead

From the few rare encounters we've had, Vasyrin will stay in my memory as some of the most enjoyable and memorable enemy encounters I've had. She was scary and powerful without being a moustache twirling villain and she was respectful to her enemies. She knew how to play the game and who to pick her fights with. I'm honestly sorry to hear her go but more so sorry to hear you're having health issues. I hope you make a speedy recovery and wish you all the best.

Since the first time I met Vasyrin I've always have been amazed. The magnetic aura she had made me realize I wanted to play a drow. Syndril was born.

She has been recruited, and from that day I entered into a world and a story I could never imagine. The plots, the tensions, the bonds, the assassinations, the crisis and the politics, the War on Light and ultimately the real, diabolic and tragic roleplay of Lolthites.

Vasyrin has been a guiding light to a young and bratty priestess, and ultimately resulted in being the best Matron I could only dream of. The stories I wrote with her are forever branded in my skin and held dear in my heart.
Our friendship out of the game is however the best treasure I have. You have taught me many things, what I can and I cannot do, what I prefer and what I fear. You've been a staple in my roleplaying model, and thanks to you I can say today I am what I am because of your immense skill and dedication.

With this I wish to tell you: no matter what happens, no matter what the future holds, I love you and I love to play with you. One day we shall meet again with different toons and we will write amazing sagas again.

Sorry to hear about your health, I hope that turns around soon for you.

Vasyrin was an excellent villain and provided no end of frustration for Dib and the effect she had on the Arcanum and Salamander. We didn't directly interact all that much, but the little we did was great fun. She's not a character I expected to go so soon short of a violent end.

I had a ton of fun watching Vasyrin grow as a character and the impact she came to have on her district and drow rp in general in Andunor. Her walks with Johnathan were always a treat for me owing largely to how interestingly presented her beliefs and attitudes were. Part of why I tend towards humans is that I feel like I have a bad habit of making other races feel like a human with a different model. Talking with Vasyrin was always a pleasure because she felt very authentic while also having a unique enough personality within that context that I always came away wanting to interact with her more. I just wish our times had lined up more often! That said, irl and especially irl wellbeing always comes first so I wish you well and I hope your able to tackle the health issues as quickly as possible. Take care out there!

Vasyrin did something that few drow, especially few Matrons, did, she left an undelible mark on our Underdark, writing a small but significant part of its history. She took a district that was a city of ghost and forged it back into a new home and stronghold for the drow and the followers of the Spider Queen. It is something that happened infrequently on this scale, but that even more infrequently ended on good terms for the District. That by itself is already impressive.

What is even more impressive and commendable is that the player did this by giving opportunity to characters, old and new, to shine. Vasyrin was not simply a great character, but she was played by a great player who knew how to weave a story taking care of the fun of all involved, to the best of her ability, and tried always to make so that the other parties had fun, both her enemies and her friends.

From the first time her and Aunrae met every single encounter and roleplay we had was memorable and I thank you for including her in her story. I enjoyed every part of it, from the beginning when they were on good terms, but also the plots and stories that originated when the relations between the two became more strained due to the developments involving the Arcanum.

It was a pleasure and a honor to play with you. I wish all the best for your health and any other project you will embark on! <3

There's not much I can say that hasn't been said already. I am only capable of expressing my gratitude to such a great player who didn't fear taking the initiative. One conducting a great amount of plots which intertwined together seamlessly, capable of making one believe they were reading an epic novel instead of playing a game. Even to the point of forgetting typing in an answer in-character!

You've taught much to both T'risfalee and her player. The two would be lost in the unforgiving depths of the Underdark and, worst of all, way scarier than the perils outside the relative safety found within the cities, drow role-playing and lore.

When speaking of evil characters, the image of a mustache twilrling villain with a maniacal laughter comes to mind. However, what was actually there was a nuanced character who deeply cared for her allies (much like you to your fellow players) at the same time she would kill them without hesitation. She was commanding and down-to-earth alike. All in all, one could believe we were playing as the good ones and feel compelled to carry out the schemes eloquently presented through meetings, post notices or emergent rp.

Arelith is the best gaming experience I -and probably others- ever had, to which you greatly contributed.

Darkest cycles ahead, Princess of the Devil's Table, Ilharess Auvryndar of House Auvryndar from Andunor!

Warm regards and stay strong!

Chars:

  • T'risfalee - Priestess of Lolth Succumbed to Lolth's cruelty (27/04/24-9/01/25)

  • Jose Ardnt (shelved for more than two years...) - Shoemaker

Vasyrin really was the greatest example of a drow Matron I've seen played on here. She always felt in control of the situation, and seemed to know exactly what to say and when to say it. I'm so glad I decided to return to the server in time to get to know her as a character, and to let her breathe new life into Anasva as a character, after I'd felt her story may have ran its course.

She's the sort of character people are going to be mentioning in stories anytime they talk about their experience with the server, always leaving an impact. I wish you the best with your health, and hope we get to play together again sometime when you're feeling better.

Vasyrin was a super charged breath of fresh air I was excited to see advance and help push along. Thank you for all your efforts and fun made. As a player, you were always conscious of others and created narratives that could be welcoming to many which is so neat.

Glad we could scheme and RP together. I wish you the best with your health and may the memories made be something to regard fondly no matter where you go!

Glad I could get the chance to know Vasyrin as Saverin, including being able to become a full member of the house and then eventually the right hand to the district under her rule. It was fun and I hope you get a lot better soon.

In the short amount of time that I've known Vasyrin, she provided me with incredible role-play interactions and IC events. The wonderful role-play scenes we've had together never failed to disappoint and I am honored that Xveven could "Be useful" and got to play his small part in her storyline.

I hope your health improves and thank you so much for playing such a memorable, authentic character.

Best Wishes.
