The Parting Glass

Post by TDWojo »

Farewells are often not pleasant things, unless they are tempered with the thought we will see each other again later.

With that in mind I would like to say "Farewell", with the promise of hopefully saying, "see you again soon."

The time has come to set to the back shelf a story I began here some four years past now (I think that long?). It is, to say the least a bitter sweet thing. And it is hard to remember all the good times and story telling I have shared with my first Character to walk the roads of Arelith.

Mithrim started his days as a young servant of mystra, helping to spread the faith and be the steward of a burgeoning new wizards school in cordor with the aid of his first friend off the boat, Daijin Helefnarian. The first but hardly the last, as his circle of companions grew... Peony Bagley, Meran, Fiala, Vida, Esta Marie, some of his early acquaintances, that he enjoyed spending time with as he moonlighted as a barkeep in the nomad. Just before the crown of thorns came to plague the island.

Then through Daijin's poking...he came to find this place called Myon. A place different from the rest, and a place that gave him a purpose. Lord Cav'raj saw him installed as an ambassador to an embassy in cordor, and he became close with many knights and priests of the city. Ahka'le, Mara'kia, and Ari'anna Corbael, Lyn'daerio the archer...

Then came conversion, a desire to more closely serve the elven people and so he found sehanine and with the faith a new home and new friends as a permanent fixture in the city. There was love, heartbreak, hard work, frustration, parties, dressing as the queen for a costume party and somehow catching her eye doing so....there was and has been Fun.

Which quickly turned to work, as Mithrim became First Knight and his service to the city increased, as did his friends, Asherrin, Shalifil, Uncle Seril, Lady Cal'lith, Auntie Sar'lin, Grumpy Elrik, Thorny Rose, Master Reginald, Clean sweeping Cyranithr, The Pathfinder Orion, quite Syrian, Kai'mi, Gwi'fain, Soko the crude, Ceowgy and Fatty, Solaenthir the clown, Xar'ina and Portia, Navira, Gwen, Shera, Andy Dirtytoes, The Hammer of Brog Doili Troff, Neville the sheriff of Burrowhome, Feather, Manobi, Kata Talos, Verankt (apologies for the butchery on the names!), Willow, Amras both of them, Liira, Guster, Elaine, Rae'lin, Elessar, Verimil, Trina, Storm, Vilindra, Ember....

So many names, I feel bad putting those here I can remember because it make me sad of all those I cannot recall now. Know that even if not named, I appreciated telling a story with you these past years.

Also aside from friends he made new foes and enemies. Baneites a plenty, warlocks, Malarites, Tiamatians, way ward elves, Thank you for being easy to hate ;) and courteous foes.

On Sunday Mithrim will end his stewardship of Myon, passing the Chalice to the next suck....er....worthy ruler. He then departs to search for a PC whom has meant a lot to him both IG and OOC. Lady Sia, someone I have had the very distinct privilege to enjoy their RP with for a few years now, and someone I consider a very dear friend in real life, one of many I have made in playing.

Any whom can are welcome to bid Mithrim well as he departs on his journey, before he steps down this coming Sunday. I would be glad to share an old memory of fun we have had. From my fresh faced days as a very real noob to the server to now the journey has been something very special.

On a personal note, I hope to still play when I can, and I am not rolling Mithrim but certainly playing him much less. I have had some fairly serious medical news lately and I do not know what the future holds outside the realm of fantasy. So I am preparing for the worst and hoping for the best. Do keep me in your thoughts if you feel you can. I shall need all the support I can muster.

One of the few to whom Storm has extended trust. She looks up to Mithrim, but enjoys not being his subject, to keep him grounded in being an elf before being a king. She'll miss him greatly. But I'll be seeing you! XD

I didn't expect you'd be leaving -YET-. Nobody told me this!

It was great to go toe to toe! Your interactions don't let me get as monologue-y; but they keep both of us wary, and keeping THE FILTHY HEATHENS on their toes is always in the job description.

-that said, is this coronation (lovely passing of title it is) actually ah-... -IN- Myon? Because-... I mean, I really don't have anything planned.

Urges to. Improvise. Strengthening. Must.... ACT. DO SOMETHING. SOMETHING DISTRACTING.

And once, more, there will be only one Mith.

All the best, and we'll be here. Waiting...

Cheers, old chum. Never got that promised glass of wine in the City. Probably Manobi's (my) fault.

Ah well, we had some moments. It was great working with you the few times I had the chance.

One of the characters I have had the greatest joy interacting with. I hope to see you about still. You're loved.

Congratulations on getting your name back to yourself Mith :P

Mithrim has always been one of those characters that made playing a Myon elf such an awesome experience.
That being said, you are going to continue playing either him or one of your alts and your serious medical news are going to get much less serious soon (this is not a wish but a statement of things to come).
I wish you best of luck and see you IG!

I know Valdur was an infrequent companion at best, but he would have followed Mithrim into the Abyss. Mithrim was the heart of Myon for so very long.

Cheers!

Praying for you.

News from the Doctor, not so good.

Seems I am in need of some major medical procedures in the future.

I shall enjoy the distraction of the serve as long as I can, but, my play times may become sporadic depending on what RL throws me soon. I shall enjoy it while I can, and hopefully return when it is over.

That said. For now Mithrim is officially retired, and living happily with his family and two children now in Myon. I pray my RL will mimic his happy ending.

I know Azuilah and Mithrim would never have gotten along if they'd managed to meet "Shuhadaku-g'estug!" but I really hope your health improves, and your doctors do what they can. Take care of yourself, fella.

Neville always considered Mithrim a class act. Just as fancy as any other elf but not as snobbish. Very approachable and friendly. Gonna be interesting how he'll get on wth Shalofil.

Mithrim the reluctant hero of Myon enjoys the ride off into the sunset. Well deserved for him. Lyn'diero never had the splendid ending. Mithrim will be missed by many.
