Assassin Subdual + Claim Change

Post by Choofed »

Problem:
At the moment when you are performing an assassination contract, you are sort of hemmed into having to kill the person and then claim the bounty. When doing so, it's suboptimal unfortunately to subdue them despite subdual and the RP leading up to the final blow potentially being quite narratively impactful or cool.

Scenes where the assassin takes you down, and wants to get cool last words in, or deliver a message from a client request. Maybe the final words are a message from an ex-wife, just before the curtains close.

Solution:

1. Assassination feat -assassinate extends subdual durations on contract targets
When an assassin has targeted a person who has an active assassination contract on them, with the -assassinate ability the subduals that they inflict upon people do not last 1 minute, but 10 minutes. Given that in nearly every case I can think of, it's exceptionally rare an assassin is using the -assassinate and targeting a contract target and not be trying to assassinate them.

This would allow sufficient time for good quality RP to take place while they are subdued, and in the moments before their end.

2. The Assassin's Dagger can execute targets who are subdued, if they have an active contract
This would allow the assassin to roleplay out the scene and give the death stroke to end the scene without having to awkwardly wait for the subdued target to die.

While I appreciate these may be minor class improvements or 'buffs' in a certain lens, I think the narrative potential from these changes outweighs the cost in the cases it will be used.

Thank you.
