Helmets and Disguises

Old player back after 100 years - question - why does my character show as disguised simply because they are wearing a helmet? I am not attempting to disguise him.

Basically it's just that people can't see details. They can still tell who you are, but realistically if you're totally covered people can't tell details like you're tattooed or have scars or whatever.

The cover system is different from a disguise. Your description will give the default cover message if your armour set fulfills the requirements to completely cover your PC. You can actually adjust your default cover description, if you follow the instructions in the description article of the Wiki.

However, cover does have an interaction with the disguise system. If you are covered you can disguise your race. For example, if you are a sun elf, you can try to pass off as a drow, and vice-versa.

You can also I'm fairly sure set it to not change when you cover, in the rest menu under disguise options
