Thieves Cant Misprinting W/ Emotes in Text

Post by Inordinate »

Description of Bug Experienced:
Sending messages using Thieves Cant while using the quotation/novel style will print the actual text of the message as if it were an emote to everyone who hears it, even if they do not have Thieves Cant as a language.

Steps to reproduce the Bug:
Activate Thieves Cant
Use Thieves Cant while using novel style AKA
"See that guy over there?"

Expected Result:
Thieves Cant will translate the message and ignore the quotation, printing the thieves cant *emote* to everyone not fluent.

Actual Result:
The message content is printed as-is rather than *emote*, auto-translating it to everyone around them like it was an emote not meant to be translated by the language system regardless of style.

Additional Information/Notes
I would think the language could be made to automatically drop any quotations BEFORE processing the text so we can avoid people having to know about this quirk, since it isn't obvious right away unless you pick up that there's a difference in the output between yours and others who may not be using the quotation/novel style.

for what it's worth, it just shows up as common to anybody not fluent in thieves cant, regardless

still a bug, but at least it doesn't totally out you, as some players have assumed upon experiencing this
