The Dev team gave you all a lovery Christmas gift of a new award. Maybe it wasn't wrapped as well as it could be, but is that really reason to insult them?
I don't mean to be rude, I just thought it odd implementation with the one race I mentioned. Feytoyched sounds cool, I wanted to know more about them. What if I wanted to play one? How do I know my concept is accurate, or if I'll need to retcon later?
This is where waiting for more information to be available before making a choice would be pertinent.
Well, yeah.
Now that I am not on my phone and can type out a lot, this is why I personally, with my own preferences, feel like this was a haphazard release.
What I'm trying to say is that while I absolutely appreciate the effort put in by the team, I don't mind waiting for a race/class/feature to be released when the team is ready to also release the information that goes with it. And I know the team isn't saying "shut up and be grateful we're releasing something." It's frustrating that there are players here drowning out me trying to ask why by being snarky jerks, which coincidentally colors staff response. (EDIT: I also don't know whether chastising staff remarks are aimed at me too or not)
Either we wait for the "polished" release to find out about it in the first place, or we wait for the information to come before we can play them accurately, and chomp at the bit some. The second option, while appearing clunky, lets us test builds but TBH feytouched is pretty simple, what's there to really test?
So, again, in my view we're back to just waiting to release it when we're ready to also let people know what it is. I'm not sure I understand the "keep it secret' Sincra mentioned, since it's a race without too much mechanics-wise, rather than something that would have a big impact on economy or a total overhaul of a system.
As I said, I didn't know there's information on character creation. I didn't spend a Normal award for one, and I don't really use the PGCC for testing award races, so I never realized that character creation for award races might have additional information. I also don't feel like firing up PGCC to read a paragraph or three that could have just been included in the announcement.
Anyway, that's my medium-winded way of explaining my first post in this thread.
Am I just off base here?
