Language Learning Discrepancy

Post by TempuranTempeh »

Description of Bug Experienced:
Went to a NPC language lector after the recent LM language changes.
Despite the -language menu stating there are available language slots, the combat log feedback states otherwise.
Perhaps the game isn't sure what to do with both LM languages and the gift of tongues present?

Steps to reproduce the Bug:
LM who has learned more than the -bonus_language number would grant, with a gift of tongues.
Speak with a NPC language tutor and request teaching.

Expected Result:
1-2% progress as usual.

Actual Result:
Combat log announced the language cap is reached.

Screenshot(s)

-language command reveals there should be languages left to learn, thanks to the gift of tongues / LM change. My maximum used to be 7, now it's 11, which would match the LM levels.

Despite this, the combat log announces no further learning is possible.

Your LM is likely a pre changed LM which is grandfathered with the click and learn language from LM levels previously.
This was changed to language slot, RP and learn language instead. You get to keep those languages you've chosen, but you don't get more than your previous bonus language would allow.

We have some backend updates for the language system in the pipe.
Can you hold onto this thought and come back after the update?
You'll see the changelog when it goes live.

To answer the post above: If the readout says 7/11, they should clearly be able to learn 4 more languages. There's a bug somewhere, but I'll need a bit more time to pinpoint where.

Don't click weird links, kiddos.
