Re: New AP / Award Changes Feedback
This is cool and very benevolent in how it is rolling out but I wonder 3 things:
If AP inflation was a worry to cap people but now it is no longer a concern? There is a lot more than the top 0.1% now with 5-6-7-8 majors in the next 6 months than there would've been if you never capped anyone prior. This probably upticks the amount of them without ever removing any of the existing chars.
And the second point is: given the inflation, esp. if someone starts now, will you correct upwards and new players, or people who previously followed the system as intended (make char, apply award, roll char) and now have less than 100k, and they'll take 4+ years of saving up to get to a possible major? Assuming you'll ever adjust prices ofc.
What about the incentive to roll these old characters? Since their point generation was uncapped entirely (pure hour conversion) the new chars cannot hope to even generate a "worthwhile" amount, and the legacy chars also have no incentive to be rolled as they amount to 29k/month + refund + 6k+30k rolling so - assuming someone has a uncapped 3000 hour char (just an example) that one now gave them 1.8 million points, which would take about 3 years to generate again. So I guess no reason to roll these legacy chars unless you play for another quarter decade to even approach the value you already gained. Or you know, assuming you want a greater out of it about a year at least.
Just seems a bit odd to me in how the initial reasoning and mission statement was, and how it is now. The beloved 3000 hours chars aren't "worth" any points, they already 'released' their points.
But I cannot stress this enough: This is very nice in of itself, purely wondering about what initially was reasoned for the 11 people that got capped and what the reasoning on the speed for points was.
Worried this "inflation" that was penalized prior causes overcorrection, this also sadly still leaves people in the dust that made a char -> rolled -> award -> award applied -> rolled the char, so theres someone now that played for 5 years and played "as you are told" and has like, a normal award, but I guess they just be unlucky anyway.
Re: New AP / Award Changes Feedback
I just wish I knew I only had 25% of my legacy points displaying. I deleted 4 old characters for partial refunds to fund something else, but now I’m seeing I could have just waited a week or two and would have had the points.
Not sure that knowing prior would have disadvantaged anyone in this case. It’s not a big deal either way but it feels bad. Thrilled I have other points anyway though!
RP only starts at 30 if you're a coward.

Re: New AP / Award Changes Feedback
So with the new legacy points that are going to be available, what happens if you cap out your award points? Let's say you get 3 mil AP with another 5 mil legacy left? What happens then?

Re: New AP / Award Changes Feedback
Effective points do not have a cap.
Only the system initialization conversions have caps.
I apologize for any undesirable effect the updates may have had. The truth is that more often than not we don't know when we will be able to push for our updates, and we might still change our intention at the last second. Making announcements on how things are going to work forces us to compromise to a design that we might still change, and ultimately the players that base their actions on incoming changes written in the sand are as good informed as those that don't know about the changes at all.
We can only promise what we know we won't change.
We have more updates coming soon that will continue to change how AP are used.
Even then, I don't recommend anybody to hold on to their points currently, as it might be weeks and months before we see our next updates, and in that time you could be playing a character instead of worrying if you could have saved more points or not.
Don't click weird links, kiddos.

Ah, so from now on there is no cap to AP stored from that generated since the system went live? From rolling and legacy AP? We can in theory store over 3 million?

Yes.
(I now have a DM Discord (I hope) It's DM GrumpyCat#7185 but please keep in mind I'm very busy IRL so I can't promise how quick I'll get back to you.)
