Many books for our genre (including FR source) refer to entities and powerful casters knowing when their name has been spoken.
The suggestion, if mechanically possible is:
Spell Focus (Divination) - when using -scry (no named target) :
For 1 IG hour is made aware if their name is spoken and vague location, but NOT who spoke it.
Greater Spell Focus (Divination) -
when using -scry (no named target):
For 1 IG hour is made aware if their name is spoken, vague location and the name (or disguised name) of the person who spoke it.
Epic Spell Focus (Divination) -scry (without naming target)
For 1 IG hour is made aware if their name is spoken, what was said about them, and by whom.
The usual abjurations will suffice in preventing the above.
The RP benefits are that they will cause more of ritual to scheming and some adoption of the, "she who cannot be named" that makes such characters that bit more frightening and atmospheric.
It will also make the divination feats a bit more worth taking, given the mechanical limitations of the foci compared to others.
It may also be useful in adding some sort of depth to names, for the Oghmanites and dabblers in naming (lore friendly).
