Auvry'ndal's Retirement and Kudos
Today I retired sinithra Auvry'ndal. She, Vascha, and the rest of house Auvry'ndal want off to war in V'eldrinnshar to fight the cult of Orcus in Vaasa. Mebrith elected to stay behind.
Its been a ride, from when I started her a a humble merchant with dreams of wealth to becoming an immensely influencial drow matron who built a gate and changed how the drow operate entirely... for now. I can happily say that Sin's arc is over.
So I'd like to take a moment to thank you all for the story, and drop a kudos for those memorable characters that made Sinithra what she became.
Miz'ri Rilyn'aun
The mage that got Sin into the sorcere, beneath whom sin became its steward, it was you who initially gave Sin the idea to join House Rilyn'aun.
Lima Rilyn'aun
Oh where to begin. Lima is the one who first introduced Sin to Kiaransalee in the first place. Almost a second mother for Sin, It was her death that catalysed Sin's entire quest for power and vengeance. She was sin's political role model, in success and failure, and sin took a huge amount of her political dogma and modus operandi from watching Lima work. Her ultimate demise and the slow collapse of her house is what drew her deeper into the worship of Kiaransalee and eventually led to her becoming a divine champion and taking the mantle of matron. This entire journey, I owe to you for starting Sin on her path to religious enlightenment.
U'mrea Fumavhid and her goons(Dirza and her daughter)
Every heroic journey needs a primary antagonist. That was U'mrea for the longest time. Representing the status quo and traditional Udosan culture, U'mrea, and the collective hatred of other characters and factions against U'mrea and what she stood for, was the driving force behind Auvry'ndal exploding onto the scene and rocketing to 'powerful' status. Were it not for her having so many enemies IC, Sin's quest for revenge would not nearly have gone so well, for U'mrea was one of her primary targets. As far as a nemesis clinging to power goes, you did well until U'mrea vanished..
Mastana Fumavhid
Religiously, Mastana was a sworn enemy of the entire Kiaran church in arelith. The verbal sparring between our characters was delicious, and as ferocious as two diametrically opposed fanatics could be. From the moment Mastana showed her true colors to the moment she left, sin loathed her and plotted her death. Nonetheless, she was an importan force in Sin's story. She drove the priestesses together against her, and actually strengthened Sin's ties with Zestra, and eventually opened Vascha up to conversion.
Qintarra Vh'lara and Vasiira Maerahel
Sin's magic amigos. United in their hatred of U'mrea Fuma'vhid's rule Sin leaned on both of these magical ladies for support at varying points in her rise to power. Every encounter with you two was a pleasure to RP, though I have to wonder how things would have been if Sin had been ambitious and tried for the sorcere instead.
Achuakiejir Stormwind and the cult of Tiamat
Old ally of house Rilyn'aun, Sinithra saw fit to use the church of tiamat as a financial springboard to power. Securing a contract early in the faction's creation, she helped to build their temple, and in return, expected compensation and political support. Trechery goes both ways, as the pair knowingly used eachother to further their own gain until the symbiosis was no longer nescessary nor convenient. They parted as enemies. The political intrigue was fun, though at times I worry things might have gotten a bit OOC between us, particularly when Sin royally screwed the dragons over in installing the queen.
Nhil'vyrae
A few characters have gotten to see sin's petrified Nhil'vyrae in her bedroom. Nhil was sin's first convert, and quickly became a bit of a pet/agent for the matron. Soon she became sin's house priestess, but tragically, this character was a MoD and died young. Sin felt suprisingly sad at the loss of her priestess, and had her petrified for safekeeping, to raise later. Service until death does not apply to the favored minions of necromancers. Sin went ahead and took the petrified remains with her to her new home. Playing with Nhil was always a pleasure. Some of my favorite moments of playing sinithra involved when the house first started, with Sin, thrulia, Nhil and Ildan.
Ildan Rilyn'aun and Thrulia Ge'neren
Strong supporters during the short couple months when life was simple and the faction wasn't a threat to anyone or anything. Before shit got real. You two taught Sin the value of treating her underlings well, as well as leading by charisma instead of fear. Wish RL and plot had allowed you to stick around more.
Veszgloth
An enigma in the ranks. Vesz joined Sin's house because he believed in her vision, or so she thinks. Vesz was that loyal minion where you're not sure why they're so loyal, and you spend a whole lot of time suspecting that you're setting yourself up for a betrayal. I know you got really burnt out on how things were going, but if you ever pop back in, I think you'll be pleased to see how things went. Just wish you'd been around to witness it.
Shara Mor'Tain
A shame this character retired early. I really enjoyed playing with her. Lolthite houses that go against the grain are really rare, and yours was fun to play with when it was around. Looking forward to how our character's interact in the future with Rauvlin.
Talyrrae Xunviir
An extremely interesting character and loads of fun to play with, I only wish that I'd been able to play with her more before Sin retired. Bouncing Sin's playful, aloof manner off of Taly's rigid no-nonsense demeanor was an excercise in fun, and much was had on my end. I hope my smith gets to interact with Taly meaningfully moving forward.
Vid'dora Fuma'vhid
Lots of fumas on this list. I want to thank you for giving sin a chance to start the religious integration of the Kiaran faith into the temple. Being a religous 'progressive' for the drow opened up a lot of RP, from the rebuilding of the shrine, to the eventual integration of La'laskra and Kiaransalee to having their own altars in the temple and equal membership for their clergy. Vid's interactions with sin set the groundwork for it, and while U'mrea was always irrationally stuck in her ways, Vid was always calmly calculating, and often a foil against U'mrea, leading to more fun. Will happily hopefully see you around as my new smith.
Valsharess Zestra
Once sin's house priestess, Sin's minion grew up and became the second drow queen to grace the server ever(to my knowledge). I won't pretend I'm not very pleased with the RP leading up to that coronation, from the endless scheming to the gamble that led to that crown on zestra's pretty head, Zestra has been a great character to interact with, and I'll be pleased to keep working for her as a different character moving forward.
Wheua and Roland Asen
You two make things interesting and unpredictable. The RP was always fun, even if you two gave Sin sooooooo much trouble over time. The former causing trouble, the second being trouble by association. Nothing makes politics interesting like an assertive third party.
Jhazard and Yasdia
Trouble by association in having rival agendas and ever shifting desires, you two gave Sin a lot of trouble over time, the former, during our epic rivalry while the gate was being built, the latter during the aftermath of that and the creation of the spider legion to a lesser degree. Jaz, I'm glad you were such a good sport about the whole execution thing. Hope to see you around sometime, maybe not as Jaz, but another compelling character, as usual.
The Table Overseer's Office
Its been great having you people around making fun out of what most would find banal. You do you, you do it well.(PS: Hire Nizana to do scribe work. Make a historian out of her)
Cel'yse Fumavhid
One of Sin's good friends and allies of the faith. Sin has always had an odd friendship with Cel. One of mutual support, despite their families being in a state of near constant cold war. Cel helped Sin refine her ideology through casual debate, and conversation. Always a pleasure. I look forward to the budding feud between your seer and my blacksmith.
Vascha Xe'thre'dane
Towards the end, one of Sin's staunchest supporter and most recent convert, also the best bodyguard a matron could ask for. Your impish demeanor and sly plotting were always great fun. One of the closest characters to Sin.
Mebrith
One of the first recruits into the house after Ildan(took a couple days to find you), technically part of the house before it was founded, it was on your joking suggestion to depose Vrathriel that Sin chose matronship as her avenue of advancement. Sin's right hand from the get go, Mebrith was the everstanding beacon of loyalty and the resolve from which Sin drew strength when her faith in her vision faltered. If ever there was one Sin could call her very best friend, it would be mebrith. Minion of the year for this one. Sin may have many daughters, but even if she's not blood related, Meb will always be first in sin's book.
I've probably missed someone on the way, and to that person I'm sorry. Thank you all for being a part of the breathing underdark, where I hope to continue to tell great stories with you people in the future.
Oh yea, and enjoy this picture of Rauvlin and Sinithra(circa early matronhood)

Shameless plug: Come get your weapons repaired and commission forgework from your resident drow blacksmith and incarnation of grumpyness. She's the one on the left.

Wow, that's a lot peoples. Its a been very strange trip and part of me wished that Mebrith had been ready to "fight evil in another dimension" with the house, but I'm still not ready to give it up. Hopefully Vascha gets her parting gift.
Mebrith had a lot of doubt about Sinithra at first, but she really showed herself to be one of the great ones. Changing history, doing the impossible, its all good stuff
And as the self-appointed good will ambassador of the unofficial Ex-Matron society I will now officially welcome you to the rest of your life. Enjoy!

Re: Auvry'ndal's Retirement and Kudos
I had a lot of fun playing the traditional Lolthite Priestess and having an adversary to that traditionalism was a lot of fun. It was genuinely tough as a player since we have a lot of history with each other (long live Al'Truissa) but the RP that came out of it was great. Maybe one day I will come back to the Underdarkside of the Force and look forward to engaging all you crazies down there when I do.
Re: Auvry'ndal's Retirement and Kudos
I can say I had a lot of fun playing Veszgloth with you, Durvayas. You were persistently optimistic and that brand of enthusiasm is contagious. I think the amount of stamina you exerted in trying to improve RP in the UD as both a player and a character speaks quality of you as a person. Others couldn't cut it (myself included), but you did.
I am sorry to see Sinithra go, but I know you and those whom you surround yourself with will continue to foster stellar RP in the Underdark.

Pretty much what Ork said! Plus some regret that playtimes meant our interactions were few and far between.

Re: Auvry'ndal's Retirement and Kudos
The loss/departure of House Auvry'ndal was met with an IC sigh of relief by Lolthites and an OOC disappointment that such a colorful House and major rp maker was lost to us.
House Auvry'ndal always "punched above it's weight" but also never achieved the ambitious goals it had set out for, usually with a master plan that unravelled at the last minute, this is the stuff of great story telling.
What has always impressed me most about both the player and the character was the ability to roll with punches, dusting herself and then jump back into the fray with some new zany scheme or evil plan, qualities I very much admire.
On a personal level Sin drove Cel'yse crazy because of her untraditional associations, beliefs and just her way of going about doing things. Cel very much wanted to mould Sin into her idea of the perfect Kiaran Matron but eventually gave up on that and satisfied with trying to just temper her a bit and make her think about her actions and how they would be perceived.
Auvry'ndal's legacy will morf in time and it is something you will not be able to control and in all likelihood will be mostly fictional in a year or two so in that sense the story is not yet over and may never die.
Regardless of how that plays out none will deny the major impact the House had and the huge amount of rp it gave birth too. I look forward to seeing how things play out for your new character and have no doubt it is only a matter a time before she too becomes a character of significance. For now though....she is not quite ready to be a "rival" but she may be turning into one of her antagonists

Ah, I am not quite sure what to say. While Vasiira will be relieved that human lover Matron is gone, I certainly as a player will be feeling the void left.
As I write this I am recalling a few scenes Vasiira had with Sinithra, and I'm sure I am not likely to forget those.

Re: Auvry'ndal's Retirement and Kudos
Whoms going Dirzva now to bother, annoy, and taunt? Unless someone else working with humans appears...
It was a bit tiring sometimes, one day we fended off one of your plots, and another we have been informed immedietly. But still it always turned things upside down. With retirement of Sin Dirzva will fail second quest, to murder her
(first one was Vezsgloth, but both him and me went inactive at that time).
You were trying hard, but Fumas got ears and eyes everywhere. You boasted and that same moment we got it reported about your plan. You plotted but the one serving you was our spy actually. Umrea was doing it in clever way. Letting you perform your ideas, and these ideas just made most llothites to work for us instead, upset of things you have done (with Um being silent, watching and enjoy them reporting on your every single step).
However, i think sometimes you were pushing too hard. The numerous uncovered plots on Um led to her absolute disrespect to Sin at any opportunity, and tension which was growing up would led to open fighting if she did not vanish.
Dirzva was her main nemesis around, it started wtih such trivial thing...you remember how your cahracter was picking up pieces of snow, eating it, laughning like a kid and persuading her matron to try it out too?
It was stucked in memory of my character. And then you allied the most hatred guys around who regulerly were bullying different drow around. It was just piling on from that point onward.
I hope she was a great bother for Sinithra, especially on the meetings when accompanying Viddora or Zestra, often succesfully putting a stop to your ideas and requests, or changing their minds at last moment from supporting Sins idea to dislike it. It could even be Dirzva who suggested Zestra to spy on Sinithra
but that was so long time ago that i am unsure to claim that.

Re: Auvry'ndal's Retirement and Kudos
From what little interaction Vic had with Sini - and most of it was fairly hostile, the two did /not/ get along well, most of the time - I absolutely enjoyed all of it. From the initial invitation to the house, and his rise as a "power" in drow politics, from being yelled at for teaching a certain duergar warcleric how to properly pronounce "Vendui", Sin and Vic's interactions were always fun to play at. I enjoyed it, and don't worry - Rauv will be sick of seeing Vic asking for gold ingots to be smelted soon enough
