Drift Seaborn's Farewell

Post by strangedunc »

Today, Drift Seaborn has boarded the ship headed for Waterdeep to find his sister. I have played this character only for the entire time I've been on this server and I have had a great time. I have found many people and characters that are simply awesome and I want to thank them. Here they are in no particular order.

Kyomi Sin'vah: Alright, I could write pages but I'd rather keep it short. Kyomi was the first character that drift ever had a huge RP moment with that really got me thinking and into the game fully. Then she continued to magnetically pull drift into caring and showing legit emotion and creating some of the best moments I've had in this game. Also, the player is dope OOC. So lucky to know her. Drift and Kyomi were and will always be a team. "You jump I jump".

Vincent DiMarco: It is hilarious how Drift went from thinking Vince was some evil puppet in the government, to being his best man at his wedding. Vince was a super cool character that really gave Drift a sense of camaraderie and together they made the Cordor Guard awesome and unstoppable. Really hope we can RP again some day.

Lairilwa Seel: Drift's sister he never had. I'll never forget the hours they would go over baby names, gossip, mess with each other, and simply have fun. It was always a joy to RP with you and I thank you for being Drift's first family.

Duncan Waynolt / Miskol: Drift's brother, mother's favorite *rolls eyes*. This guy was one of the first to get me into this server. He was real cool OOC to me and the character was real interesting and intriguing. Following Duncan through his trials and tribulations has been very exciting and I'm glad Drift and him took that blood oath together.

Commissar: The first kudos I ever was apart of was one I made for this player. Sharo Alearee was the first character I ever RP'd with and I will always remember it. I had such a great time playing and I didn't even notice that I had stayed up till 6 am at the time. Commissar has always been my example of a perfect writer and RP'er. Everytime I got to RP with a character from Commissar I was super excited and never dissapointed.

Arawen Winsbane: Drift's love. I never saw Drift ever getting married when I first started playing him. Though at heart he was a hopeless romantic, I never saw that going anywhere. That all changed when Drift met Arawen. Arawen was a really cool character that I escpecially loved because all her plot happened on the server instead of in her backstory. I got to watch all the events that shaped the character and it was always fun to observe. Thanks for making Drift into a real character.

Darun Ferudo: This bud of Drift's was the one of the greatest. They always seemed to get pulled into wacky situations and still kept the fun light and hilarious. I won't forget their long Nomad conversations about life and love. They were always interesting and fun to take part in.

Cassius Gallostone: I don't know if you know how much of an arch enemy Cassius was to Drift. He viewed him as enemy number one and his plight was to bring him down. Drift kept an eye on every move Cassius made and IRL I was amazed. He was such a great villain who's masterplan was never predictable but always brilliant.

Buppi and Celendil: Drift takes one statement from Buppi and suddenly he's thrust into one of the biggest plot points of his story. Drift becoming friends with them was super fun and heartwarming. They were always dependable and Drift looked up to them both. I'm glad to have been able to have them as constant RP partners through the everyday journey that is Arelith.

Kyle Frayer-Eldafire: Eldafires always speak their minds. And for this, Drift always liked to have Kyle around. Kyle and his player always put the work in and did everything based on the character. He was great to RP with and a real example of how to play on this server.

Teris Raynor: I wish Drift was around longer to RP more with Teris, they met relatively recently and since that first time, Teris has been awesome. The special thing with her story is unbelievably awesome and her dealing with it is interesting to watch. Also, Kudos for instead of starting a conversation OOC with me, you started a rap battle. Good job.

Oturo Ulfiarn: Oturo had a huge effect on Drift. Somehow he was Drift's enemy and mentor at the same time. Everything Oturo did was true to his character and everything he ever said, he meant it. RP'ing with him was riveting and simply just fun to watch.

Anden Smith: Never had a big RP moment with Anden, but every time I got to RP with him it was awesome and fun. Always a good guy to play with.

Claire Sala: Thanks for giving Drift the help he needed trying to keep Cordor from being destroyed. Finding out what Claire was really about was awesome and I loved her plans and reasoning for doing things. It was super bad Snuggybear.

Ashcroft Stansby: Exactly the person you want behind the bar when you head to the Nomad. Ashcroft was a great listener and very fun to spend the down time with. He was also a great boss to Drift and I thank him for always being welcoming and kind.

Drift you deserve these Kudos right back, from the moment Arawen met you with that timid attempt to hit on her which made me laugh, to their marriage, to their tragic end, Drift influenced how she turned out. I hope for one day to have RP like this with you again.

Drift and Teris didn't know each other for long but your character was so incredibly powerful. A smart man can convey a complex idea; a genius can do it in simple words. With Drift, there was never a word wasted. He wore his heart on his sleeve and that's what made him so liberals as a character. For Teris, Drift was always there - and he made Cordor feel like home. Teris is gonna miss him so much.

Noooooooooooooooooo. A travesty, a death blow, the city shall weep for a thousand years, and never again will a smile live upon its stre – Oh. Drift’s not dead. Whew. Well. That’s okay, then. That was a close one.

Drift (and, by extension, you!) was an absolute pleasure to play with, and I couldn’t help but stop whenever I saw that name on the playerlist. Thanks to the tyranny of timezones that was lamentably infrequently, but damned if it wasn’t memorable when it did. I smiled for a good, long time when I read Drift’s description and saw his helmet was still dented, courtesy of a certain mischievous faerie dragon. But that was the sort of detail you went into as a player and a writer, the little things that make a character seem like a truly living, breathing part of the world. Something that grows and is changed by the environment, even as they change it.

Drift was that sort of character. And it was a joy to be a part of that, even a little one. I can’t wait to see what you come up with next!
May you live in interesting times.

Nuuuh!
Vivi won't be happy she missed a farewell!
My Kudos to Drift and especially the player for being super-inclusive and over all a super nice person.
Play whatever you have fun with, Cordor will still be there when Drift will be back (maybe).

Violet is going to Drift so much! He was almost like an older brother to her and actually helped her develop as a person quite a bit.

He was by far the nicest character I've ever had the pleasure of meeting. Like I have no other words other than how nice and amazing he was.

Keep it real fam, hope to see you IG soon! <3

Drift was pretty cool, I enjoyed teaching him about all the Nishrek's gods on Oturo. Drift's constant fraternisation with "pink skins" annoyed him to no end. Still, I'm going to echo Commissar's statement here - I'm keen to see what's next.

Noo I missed getting to say goodbye! :x

Drift was a great character and Celendil will really miss him. He was a Cordorian staple for quite some time and you should be proud as he definitely had a lasting impact on the city and the people who call it home.

Hope Drift makes it back eventually, and I look forward to seeing your next character.

See you round big guy. Sadly I'm putting my son to bed or I'd have been around for the drinks and purple suit.

Only an honourable mention? ;) Pfft, I hate you too. :p Never saw Kori as sister in law to a half orc. But Drift really showed you how you make a halfblood believable. Don't give in to the stereotypes.

Drift taught Kori to look beyond the stereotypes. That lesson is going to help others one day.

To you too - thanks for the memories.

Ryana: "Not a paladin." I'll take that as a compliment.

I am going to miss Drift so much on Seel! Well actually, I miss our whole group on Seel! It was wonderful while it all lasted at least. Drift was a big part of Seel's life too, and she came to consider him close family. Perhaps oneday our characters will both return!

Keep on the look out for Jhaelmae/Leviran in the future. :)
