Arcane Tower Fun!
These kudos go out to RPers who have been fun to RP with lately. Special thanks for the good times, especially for Poe's recent little... mess in his room. Let's keep Roleplaying and having fun together!
Elise Davontis
RPed with you on two characters now and your an earnest RPer who isn't shy about putting their character in unpleasant circumstances and acting totally powerless or bothered by it. It seems like a lot of people act indifferent to moments that would make normal people seem surprised or bothered, but you keep it real and let your characters act normal. Its a welcome change to the RP of an island full of strange things on a regular basis, so ty for not pridegaming your character and keeping it real. Keep up the good RP and I look forward to seeing what you do next.
Iocastos
Always an interesting character to interact with I look forward to running into you ingame everytime. Thanks for sharing

Thanks for the manly drinking time with Poe. It felt original and classic and was a welcome change to all the exceptional, uniqueness that Arelith has as the norm.

Thanks for the super job helping with Poe's RP in the Tower. You went beyond what was needed and really made sure the RP was as good as possible for everyone involved. Thank you so much! I hope I get the chance to RP interactively with you next time.

Thank you! You're definitely one of my favorite RPers on the server.
I love the interactions between Poe and Elise. He's such an amazing character when you get past his brooding shyness. Poe is a great addition to the Tower and he gives Elise an opportunity to actually be a person not just an Archmage.

Re: Arcane Tower Fun!
I have enjoyed my time with the tower also. Unfortunately, my character Aeriel is a drama queen incarnate and isn't a good fit, or else I'd still be around. But the towers rp is something I will long cherish and continue to look foward for more intereactions with its members.
Theres alot of fun that goes on in the upper floors that unfortunantly, those outside looking in will never know. The tower team is a group full of good advise that I love hearing, even if Aeriel is to strong willed/hard headed to let it sink in easily.
Angela: My first character intereaction with anyone of the tower. That character is really warm and kind. Shes gone above and beyond trying to help my character find her place and herself.
Elise: What was a rocky start blossomed into something pretty. I regret that Elise and Aeriel didn't start to get close until after she had moved on to new horizons. I find Elise to be very pensive, maybe even closely guarded about herself which often finds me wanting to learn more.
Astarial: There should be more elves like him. I know he doesnt fit the stereotypical condescending elf, but its a breath of fresh air that he isn't. his gentle nature and understanding makes for easy rp sessions.
Poe: I love how he is the sort of hitman of the tower. Or as he called it "hunter". I had an opportunity for he and vivian to sit down and chat. Aeriel's hope for a peaceful discussion to settle things turned into an exchange of threats and insults. It was very telling about both of the characters. I also loved how the pair lit up cigarette's and tried smoking Aeriel out of her own room.
Poe's carefully guarded and concealed concern for Aeriel warms her heart
Duskaria: Her player knows alot about canon and I find im always having to double check myself as I try to have discussions on mystras ban with her. Its hard to stray off course with the ever watchful champion of mystra at your side.
Draavos: He isnt part of the tower anymore, and the first 2 sessions with him were very rocky. But later sessions revealed a very comical character to game with. But what was with the purple and pink warden colors? :O
Imran: Havent had much chance to really get to know this character but I love that bright bald head of his.
Heinrich was a blast, and I cant mention him without also mentioning his corruptor Vivian. As a thorn in the towers side they have both been, and become more integral to Aeriels developement and her personal refiners fire. I am still just shocked by how that whole thing turned out. And continues to turn out. I did love the short time where Aeriel got to be his caretaker, tormenting him with threats of pink bows and fingernail polish.... priceless.
Alastor: A more recent addition to the tower, at least as far as I've been on Arelith. I have come to like him as a player as well as his character. I often forget that he is a dragon and do a piss poor job of giving that status its proper prestigue. He does his part well though, a watchful guardian for the tower, for really all he cares for, very much gold dragon.
Iocastos: The other dragon warden of the tower. I lol every time he calls Aeriel disgusting for her attempts to overextend herself and take unncessary risk for others. His guidance ignored, he remains properly annoyed and yet still enjoyable to be around.
I know I am forgetting people, I always forget something. Sorry in advance.

Wow, really Katahdin, you start a kudos post with an attack on a player? Not really cool, if you have issues with a player, talk to the player or a DM rather then attack them in the forums.

I think that the "drama queen incarnate" being refered to is the poster's own character. It becomes quite clear if you read the rest of the post...DarkDreamer wrote:Wow, really Katahdin, you start a kudos post with an attack on a player? That was the origional quote, and that was directed at myself as I play Aeriel, I have since reworded it so that it hopefully isnt misunderstood as a flame on someone else. Thats not what I was meaning.Katahdin wrote:Unfortunatly Aeriel is a drama queen incarnate and isn't a good fit, or else I'd still be around.

Re: Arcane Tower Fun!
Welp. Let's see how long or short this turns out to be: Hi, I play Angela Amana, the there-not-there Archmage since the turn of the century.
My kudos, first and foremost, go to Elise Davontis. To make something absolutely clear: The Tower would have been more silent than the grave without her. I've seen about a dozen Archmages come and go, and none of them hold a candle to Elise. There are some that are more interesting, some that are more powerful, some that have more lore, some that are more anything. Everyone had their qualities. Elise is... Beyond special. She has a drive for the Tower no one, not even Angela, has matched. She's given her everything to the Tower, whether it's appreciated it or not. There's so much that goes on behind closed doors, hidden under the public surface of the Tower. So much consideration, forethought, planning. A true desire to combat the evil of the isle.
She has a special quality of perception, an uncanny knack for spotting the solutions, or the troublemakers, before anyone else. She makes the Tower strong, so strong that even when it seems relatively weak or quiet, it's better than anything I have witnessed in the times that came before her.
Thank you for being Archmage, Elise. Thank you for being her player, WildOrchid.
You can't mention Elise without Alastor being far behind. He gave her strength, added a dimension to her that made her more fun to play. Alastor, my Blue Eyes, has caused transformations in at least three characters I can think of immediately: Angela, Elise, and Diem. Before Alastor, Angela doubted her own heart, doubted she was as 'good' as she hoped she was. Long sessions, baring her stories and soul before the Gold Dragon of the Tower, has done much to turn her into a strong character once again. He puts forth justified confidence without being truly arrogant, because he's willing to admit he can be wrong. He still learns, still adapts and changes, while still being true to what he is... and encouraging others to do the same.
Astariel, you've been a fun counterbalance. Most of your solutions involve 'just blow them up' without it ever getting old. Considering what Angela is, she's 'supposed' to be that, but you make her have to rein herself in. Our history together, though patchy, makes you a trusted friend, something rare these days.
Poe... We haven't interacted NEARLY as much as time together as I'd like. Every interaction with you, even the short, brooding ones, I've enjoyed. Despite his mental armor, he still listens, still seeks advice and to learn.
Aethelwulf... Show up more, damnit! I love having another flameborn around to teach! Counterspelling and progressing his knowledge has been a true treat, something I haven't been able to do since Diem's day. He has so much to learn!
Arkwin, you old duffer! Angela's oldest current friend, second only to Salasker Dusk himself, and the one who keeps Angela young by a ton of laughs, good humor, a -very- complex character (seriously, when was the last time I got to involve multiversal string theory...) that makes every time together enjoyable.
Aeriel.... I can't say enough about your character. You already know how it personally resonates with me, and with Angela. She's an addict to acts of self-worth, destroying herself before she'd let anyone be destroyed. An eagerness that borders on insanity to do good in the eyes of those she seeks the approval of... and broken enough to let them go when they turn away, building up another wall. I've never seen an addict played this way, and it's superbly done. You've even drawn tears to my eyes.
To the gone, but not forgottens:
Kiravias, you were amazing, and deserve a kudos thread of your own. Luckily, you already have one
Diem.... You will never, ever ever leave Angela's heart. The closest thing to a daughter she's ever had, even though she has an actual daughter. You shaped Angela, Elise, Alastor, all of us, in ways I still can't pick apart, IG years later. I still miss you, to this day. Mew!
Bás Álainn... Few still remember you, but you forever left your mark in ways people will never know, but appreciate still. Your memory lives on, in Faith.
And last, but not least:
Ronald Markum - You gave Angela the courage to believe in what couldn't be done.... And it couldn't, granted, but it was a wild ride while it lasted. I am so sorry things turned out how they did, and why you had to leave. You will always be an Archmage in my heart. I hope to see you on another character... some day.

Alia: The uncanny knack of Angela Amana to make the otherwise perpetually well-mannered girl lose her temper and be HORRIBLY ASHAMED afterwards.

Re: Arcane Tower Fun!
Eventually (probably!), I'll return to the Tower, because it was definitely one of the best times I had in the server, even if tragically short-lived.
You know, I left a surprise for Angela and Elise, somewhere in the planes. Maybe you'll find it one day.

The tower is good fun. I am enjoying it for a second time around and am encouraged by the new members. Hopefully that trend will continue.

Re: Arcane Tower Fun!
It's been a really long, twisty ride. To try to put names and reasons to all of them like some before me have done seems daunting. But...
Angela Amana: The pair definitely had a patchy start, as you said, but I believe they find enough common ground and a genuine care for the people around them to have become fast friends and allies. Nowadays if someone told Ast Angela was in trouble he'd drop pretty much everything and (attempt) a race to rescue.
Elise Davontis: This is one of two characters in two and a half years that Ast has artificially 'adopted,' coming to look at her like another sister. Her desire to withstand what she saw as wrong in the tower and her struggle to change it was what, after two in-character decades, finally made Ast decide joining the tower was a worthwhile endeavor- as a Warden, initially, to help protect her!
She has long since out-stripped him in power, and despite the many conflicts the tower finds itself in, Ast is more than content to support those battles as something worthwhile.
Poe: I don't know where to begin. Astarial wants so badly to help Poe see the light is never out of reach. Astarial wants everyone to see that, but there's something special about Poe. He conveys such a sense of being ashamed of himself in Astarial's presence, which is the exact opposite of what Ast wants!
He hasn't figured out entirely how to climb that wall yet, but the elven pyrotechnic specialist very much looks forward to the day he does.
Alastor: A gold dragon personified to perfection, IMO. Also has a lengthy history with Ast, dating back to Wharftown. Sometimes saves Ast, sometimes supports him, sometimes scolds him for being willing to take outlandish risks with his own safety to garner results. Another character Ast would rain rocks from the sky for - also a victim of Astarial's Matchmaking habits.
Aeriel: This character hurts, but in a good way. To Astarial her goals are worthwhile, but she's too reckless (she may well be the first person in his history to ever cause him say that about anyone else
). Kind to a fault, he wants to see her do well and is worried where her lack of regard for her own safety will take her. Usually leads to scenes that result in "those feels," moments.
Dusk: Compared to some of the people on this list, a relatively new acquaintance of Ast's. They haven't gotten to talk a great deal, but the character champions ideals that in most observation seem to be identical to Astarial's. In her, he sees a kindred spirit in purpose, and the chances they've had to work together have been enjoyable. I'm looking forward to the day they actually get to learning about the other.
Imran: A fun and intriguing figure, has a spotty schedule like mine- but when he's around, always provides an interesting point of perspective. They don't always see eye to eye, but the exchange of ideas usually leaves Ast with a new concept he hadn't considered before.
Long overdue- Diem & Kiravias: You two get to share a Kudos, because Astarial totally thought of them as a pair and as a great project- and great friends- both of which he feels he failed horribly at. Another pair he hoped would find the light in each other, he was distraught at the path that things took, and in the end, his time with the pair of them helped shape him in ways that are still felt today when he meets new people. So very proud of their progress and achievements, and yet so very sad at what things became, he misses them to this day.
Numerous others that schedules do not permit me to see nearly as often: Thank you to all of you, for the little bits you do in helping keep the tower thriving and running. It is good to know the place continues to live even when I am busting chops at work.
Various Antagonists
Shauna - Whether by design or circumstance, the two never seem to encounter one another at a good time, and it provides a very interesting interaction that is normally lacking in Ast's life. He doesn't often have to force himself to be polite, but ironically the version of Astarial that Shauna gets is exactly what she once accused him of - the cold, distant, practiced etiquette of a noble who feels like his every move and word are being carefully monitored for use against him.
It's an aspect of his character I don't get to delve into very often, and while I regret that the two will probably not get to know each other better anytime soon because of this, I do genuinely enjoy the interactions so far.
'LaChaunce' - Oh my, my, my. I don't entirely know where to begin. Despite the rocky setup to their meeting, this character provides no end of internal distress to Astarial, and I love it. Mysterious and impactful, their meeting left Astarial with more questions than he started with (good job) and simultaneously frustrated the elf to no end. One thing -is- clear to Ast, however. She is certainly not the same person he came hoping to meet, one way or another.
And how many things could have been different, he wonders endlessly...
To anyone I missed, I'm sorry- it's why I don't do things like this very often! But I enjoy my interactions with pretty much everyone; it's why I keep coming back to this place.

Hitman of the Tower. I lmao at that. Despite the complications of Aeriel's drama, it's interesting to RP with her and admittedly difficult for me to RP how Poe would react to her decisions. It's been fun though and I look forward to continuing the RP. Thank you for mentioning me in your postPoe: I love how he is the sort of hitman of the tower.
--Katahdin

I was SO relieved to see this kudos. It shows me that I'm RPing his mannerisms and attitude properly and in a way that is understood by those who encounter it. Thank you for including me in your post and I can't wait to see how the "Elven Pyrotechnic Specialist" intends to get over the wall.Poe: I don't know where to begin.

As for the rest of you... I felt I should throw out some more Kudos to players I've RPed with since my last hand out. Players I feel have offered a unique and interesting RP not only to myself but to everyone else.
Vivian LeChaunce
For your ever increasing annoyance to Poe, the rivalry has been interesting and I look forward to seeing it peek some day. An amazing RPer in everything from emotes to item descriptions, chasing you and finding your tid-bits around the island has been fun and I always get excited when I find something new to examine. Kudos, and Thank You, for keeping things interesting and good, honest RP.
Duskaria Weaver
A fun edition to the Arcane Tower, her unique perspective on magic and attitude towards Poe are a surprise every time and I can honestly say I'm always interested in hearing her opinion on a matter. Kudos!
Lord Victorio
Its hard to explain how Poe and Victorio are so casual with one another. You'd swear Poe should be trying to shoot him, and yet its always a relaxing conversation and chill sense of RP that I have so far enjoyed. I can't wait to see how they interact with each other in the future, enemies or not...
Nande
Poe and Nande didn't interact with one another for very long, but the RP was good and emotionally drawing and I enjoyed every moment of it. It was really fun RPing Poe's attitude towards her, good and bad, and I know their interactions affected other members of the Tower, and maybe even Sencliff, as well. Well played, and Kudos!

Jedi, the lecture was awesome. I am sorry for ditching in the middle of it - but I got expectantly sick and had to bail. I thought the lecture was extremely well written and executed. Bravo!

Kudos to Shauna and her player!
I'm very sorry about the little communication error on the Tower's part. You were very patient with us.

Kudos to the Player of Shauna for being a great sport. She didn't make the chase easy, but RPed nicely and was patient with everyone while they bickered about everything that happened. She even turned it around and had some fun poking Poe's buttons at the end, so nice job.
Sorry for the rough handling, Poe's got issues as you could see.

To all the new Initiates and Wardens...
The past couple weeks have been insanely busy for Elise getting everyone interviewed and set up, but this is such a fun and interesting batch of Initiates.
You guys are great!

Once again, thank you all for attending the lecture. And a special thanks to our special guest lecturer. I was surprised, she didn't threaten to eviscerate anyone even once! So good on her.

And last, but not least:
Ronald Markum - You gave Angela the courage to believe in what couldn't be done.... And it couldn't, granted, but it was a wild ride while it lasted. I am so sorry things turned out how they did, and why you had to leave. You will always be an Archmage in my heart. I hope to see you on another character... some day.
Bás - was fun still got that recipe for halfling stew and elf side salad if you want it.

Ronald Markum - Was interesting to play as his internal conflicts as well as external ones made severe changes to his mental stability. But he saw good in few and more darkness than even his own *mask* would show.

You know, I left a surprise for Angela and Elise, somewhere in the planes. Maybe you'll find it one day.
Alia: The uncanny knack of Angela Amana to make the otherwise perpetually well-mannered girl lose her temper and be HORRIBLY ASHAMED afterwards.
