Kudos from the Hawke

Post by Liotu »

Though Hawke’s story isn’t quite over yet, a huge chapter in his life has just finished, and I wanted to make one of these as a thanks to all the people (or most of the ones I can remember) that helped shape his journey.

As a disclaimer, I’m going to forget a lot of people. I am very sorry in advance, I swear I love you all equally.

Elysia Hawke-Fer’rel: His beloved wife, his closest friend, and the mother of his child. There’s absolutely no denying Elysia is one of, if not THE, most influential force on Hawke. She’s been there for him through thick and thin, and always manages to spin him out of his spirals of crushing existentialism. I’ve enjoyed every minute of RP with Elysia, and I look forward to even more.

Anden Smith: Hawke’s right hand man. The most loyal friend a man could ask for, and a damn funny one at that. They’ve been buds ever since they met, and Anden’s always there to cheer him up or make him laugh. It’ll take more than the Shadow Plane to separate these two lovers friends.

Jadoth Dawnfire: The huggable paladin cleric. Never before has someone wiggled their way so dearly into Hawke’s heart in such a short amount of time. Like the little brother he never had, Jadoth presented some of the most meaningful and thought-provoking RP I’ve had the pleasure of participating in. Jadoth is such a beautifully complex character, yet simple and easy to understand at the same time. A true joy to RP with.

Arabella Herald: Not the lawyer we deserved, but the one we needed. Arabella has been such a fun and dynamic character to interact with. I love her RP, and it's even encouraged me to improve my own. A well designed character, and even better execution.

Ryth Ellaniar & Korianna: Edgy Prince Charming, and the elf who isn't an elf. This dynamic duo has provided a lot of fun RP, friendship, and adventure for Hawke. He surely would not be the same man without having known these two.

The Waynolt Family: Papa bear, mama bear, adopted daughter bear, and the three little mice. The Waynolts have always been good friends to Hawke, and I hope it never changes even though he’s still leery of Duncan.

Kyle Frayer-Eldafire: The impromptu commander. For such an important role being thrust upon him at a moment’s notice, Kyle took it in stride. From the minute Kyle stepped into the shoes of commander, he became Hawke’s mentor; coaching him on what it is to lead, and what being a guard really means. Kyle had a huge impact on the kind of Commander Hawke turned out to be, and Hawke has carried those principles with him to this very day.

Rhaeg: The seditionist, turned champion of the people, turned seditionist. Rhaeg has truly been one of Hawke’s biggest hurdles as he struggled to separate what is “lawful” from what is “right.” I love every aspect of Rhaeg, from his character design to the beautiful execution of his RP; this elfish looking orcblood has influenced Hawke in a way that will not be soon forgotten.

Stellen Varg: The baker with a plan. Varg, too, was one of Hawke’s biggest challenges as commander; Hawke took a wrong turn and it's been a point of contention on his morals ever since. I've enjoyed every moment of RP with Varg, as he's a beautifully crafted character with a brilliant player behind the wheel. Kudos.

Jacob Swift: The dracolich destroyer. Though Hawke and Jacob both got swept in different directions, the time they did spend together was very impactful on Hawke. Jacob taught Hawke about the true nature of necromancy, and helped him understand the difference between animation and the rest of the school. That single teaching turned Hawke's black and white outlook on life into shades of grey, which then went on to shape how he'd go about viewing most other things he had thought to be “evil.” Jacob is easily one of the most interesting necromancy archetypes I've ever seen; kudos to thinking outside the box.

Rosalie Raynor: The young mother hen. Rosalie was a huge part of Hawke's life early on during his time on the isle. If it weren't for her and her efforts at the temple, I don't think Hawke would've ever taken off the ground; he probably would've been just another level 5 character sitting in my vault. The Temple was his home away from home, and Rosalie guided him like a surrogate mother. Love her character, and I hope her player is doing well, since they can't always hop on to check in.

Malak Al Abrash: The accidental politician. Hawke had his doubts about Malak when he became Chancellor, but Malak has since turned out to be one of the best things to happen to Cordor since sliced bread. Malak implemented policies that really helped the the city and guard out, both mechanically and RP-wise. Always offering a helping hand and being sweet to his friends, while still being swift and heavy handed to his enemies. You've done great work in a position that gets a lot of flak; kudos.

Vance Gravelle: The Joker's more handsome brother. I absolutely adore Vance’s character design; from his unpredictability to his casual sadism. Truly a diamond in the rough of Arelith’s “bad guys.” Kudos to a well designed and well played villain.

Syrian: “The Shadow?” - “The Shadow!?” - “The Shadow…” Syrian did a lot of (most of) the behind the scenes work for most things Hawke did, and for that Hawke owes him a debt of gratitude. He WILL get that cup of coffee, just you wait.

Other honorable mentions (in no particular order):

Estar Brightlance
DarkDreamer (I’m pretty sure all of your characters have interacted with Hawke at least once now)
Storm Harthglen
Lyssa Susidian
Amadeo Pneuma (in the words of Kyle Frayer-Eldafire when asked why Amadeo had access to the barracks: “Why not?”)
Shauna Flanagan
Lincoln Shadowsteel
Drift Seaborn
Buppi
Elinaet WowIforgotyoursurname
Caellair Elvensurnamesareweird
Khinvari Maharnn
Colette Melchiot
Varania Sylanna
Valor Deirechos (i butchered that I am so sorry)
The rest of the Wayknights
Ava Dal (Circe?)
The rest of the Necromancy Guild
Sencliff

DMs: For running cool events, as always. You guys are the best.

Devs: For making cool stuff! (the new guard outpost is terrific)

Criminals & Miscreants: The hot to our cold. Without a steady flow of ne'er do wells, the guards would have nothing to do in between their loitering rounds outside the Nomad. Thanks for giving us people to chase with torch and pitchfork.

The Entire Guard Family: Like the Addams family, but less functional. Although I may not have mentioned everyone by name, know that every single guard worked their way into Hawke’s heart. And though his time as commander is over, the friends he made along the way have shaped and transformed him into the man he is today. You all have Hawke’s, and my, sincere thanks.

I forgot people, I'm sure, so I'll be editing this periodically as people become relevant in the spaghetti that is my brain.

Cheers.

Thanks so much. It's been a true pleasure mate, and do keep doing what you're doing.

Winifred Rhoswen: "He said good things. Even said ye weren't a Paladin when I asked!"
Ryana: "Not a paladin." I'll take that as a compliment.

Big J will always be the best Commander in Jad's opinion.

Leading anything is always one hell of a challenge and Jorian did a stellar job of it, both IC and OOC.

I don't know how to end messages so here's a droopy cat Image
When the going gets tough, the tough hide under the table.

Gnuh, sorry to leave this so long. But yeah, Jorian has been fantastic as a guard commander. He always seems 'with' the situation, and is always calm, reasonable and just... well... chilled. I was impressed mostly how you seemed to work to not just 'click the exile button' on bad guys, but worked hard to give them fun rp, and second chances when warrented.
As Guard Commander it's as easy to be an RP destroyer as an RP Creator, but you were definatly the latter. As I said- Kudos to you!
