Is it possible that drow could get a second wave of height selection for their characters like when the height options first were introduced?

I haven't been able to log in since the update but if everyone's reaction is laughter I'm not sure this is going to be an exciting change.

Rest assured, things are being reverted and fixed as there are some unintended effects going on.

A small, adult, male drow is 4'8".
That's the size of a small, human, adult female.

Haha. I am laughing so hard right now.

Keep it around for a while. Have the Drow suffering the ignominy of their reduced stature. >:)

Maybe try testing updates, if this was tested then maybe test more thoroughly next time. We have a PGCC, why do we keep pushing updates on the actual servers before they are on the PGCC? Another good idea is to not push updates during the most busy time of day so that if something like this does slip through you have time to patch it before it hinders too many people's gameplay. Do it early in the morning when there are only 26 people on instead of in the evening when there are 90+. These are just common sense ideas most developers for most games follow.

This is not a bug.

It's a feature..

Enjoy Ant-Myon!

(on a serious note, thanks for the patience whilst things get fixed!)

Main issue is since all races can choose to be taller at startup it's going to make some odd height issues with tall duergar near a short drow and such, so it seems to me like if someone selected to make their drow shorter at startup was really going to be in trouble. if the server wants to start adjusting size based on what source books and such say then it might mean getting rid of the height adjustments for races. Or else it will mean some unintended consequences. Maybe just remove the height option on startup to eliminate tall drow.

Please release a battlepass to allow us an extended range of height selections including shorter-than-short, longest, double-wide and inverted thanks

How about

Minor award: Tall

Player model is tall. 7% for males (or either sex on races with fixed character models) and 8% for females (to somewhat address the existing height discrepancy)

this is so I can play a giant barbarian woman and I will be taking no further questions at this time

The average height for both male and female drow ranges between 4'7" and 5'5".1 Dwarves average between 4 and 5 feet.2 Gnomes range between 3 and 4 feet.3

These numbers need to be changed, because now they don't reflect Forgotten Realms lore.

You have a lot of misconceptions.

Things were tested. The actual error was not something that could have been predicted.

Updates happen when they happen. I'm not going to set an alarm to walk up in the "morning" (who knows whatever time zone you're even talking about) when updates go live.

Most game developers get paid so they release things at the start of their workday or a planed time where they are paid to be available.

A regular male drow looks like a juvenile. It's not just the height it's all the proportions. Just a teenage kid strolling around Andunor.

People are already role-playing adult drow as children.

With the weird gangly models of elves its compounded into this goofy tongue-in-cheek experience that I think doesn't really serve to increase immersion, but rather frankly the opposite almost aggressively.

Given fixture sizes, or just about anything in the toolset, it's made even worse. Andunor looks like it's made for orogs and humans while drow need to stand on their toes to look over a counter.

Every source I can find suggests drow aren't even that small, and should average close to double the size of a halfling.

I think it's much better to increase the sizes of other races than shorten drow so at least the toolset's stuff can be more realistically relative to the inhabitants.

What's weird is I was around another server last year or so, where the devs sat down and mapped out relative sizes and PC heights into actual foot/inch heights, and pretty much every PC needed a size boost because the base height for humans compared to fixture size/what the game considers meters and feet and such ended up being, like, five foot four or something really low.

So increasing other heights might've been the way to go on this one, maybe.

I've noticed that before, it's especially noticeable when you stand next to a door. On one hand I get why, because this is a video game where people are usually zoomed out and you want players to be able to click on the door and not have problems. But if you ever zoom in, boy, do you sure notice it.

For what it's worth, I agree with the majority opinion of this thread. This is way too small for Drow. I'd argue either increasing elven height, or if we really want to keep small drow, then making the difference a lot less extreme.

The height disparity between elves and drow is way too much. I dread how it will intensify the issues already present with the uninteractivity of the Underdark and surface. Drow sneaking to the surface disguised as elves for clandestine meetings is one of the only ways left that the Underdark can directly and meaningfully engage with the surface - and vice versa.
