Andunor attack?

Post by Diilicious »

I find it quite strange nobody has said anything about this... i suspect perhaps there are alot of bad feelings about this whole thing maybe? i just want to personally give major kudos to the server. it performed amazing and with very little lag from what I could make out on my end. even in the thick of that hell...

ive also never seen that many people in one place before... so that was kind of great... I got it all on fraps too... well the attack bit anyways.

good fun, hope more RP can come of it.

I think the aftermath is still on going, lol.
Over all I think it was great fun. Amazing turnout, amazing DMing, amazing response.
All in all it was a fun event and I'm glad I just about made it online in time to be there =D

I'm amazed that I survived that.

Also, more screenies (too bad I was too busy panicking during the actual fight to take some during that):

No hard feelings here, for the amount that was going on in that single map it is incredible the Server held up and ran relatively smoothly.

Really fun, and thank you to everyone who participated, everyone who helped set it up including Maeralya and Torgal.

Thank you also to DM Mantis, for pushing the server to the limit.

I don't think I've ever seen that many players in one location before! Was amazed I didn't crash... died twice, though. Fire is hot!

Cheers to all of you lovely people, attackers and defenders and organizers alike, and the poor, poor bystanders who somehow wound up dead.

Many thanks to DM Mantis for overseeing things and giving us waves and waves of foes to defeat!

Kudos to all the players involved for helping keep us notified on your movements/activity and staying cool on the Rules of Engagement in what really was an outrageously chaotic environment. This was clean, fun carnage for the whole family. Kudos as well to DMs Noxt and GrumpyCat for their presence and support throughout!

For inquiring minds, the total player death count was a staggering 37.

That being said, I promise I'll leave you alone for a while, Devil's Table.

I'm curious now, was it 37 total deaths or 37 individual players died at least once?

I'll join in:

Fine server performance

Huge kudos to the DMs, Mantis, Noxt and Grumpy. Being "down there", was like living Hell, and one always had the creepy feeling: "This is not looking good", so when retreat was ordered: "Let's get out of here"! Like it should be to voluntarily enter a place like Devil's Table. Fun, fun.

Kudos to the players, disciplinned despite the large number of players. Never seen anything like it, and never been into something like this in all those 10 years of playing.

Died in the sewers on the retreat, so didn't see the aftermath, but looking forward to log in and hear about it.

Sharwyn didn't distribute nearly enough verbal abuse during her captivity... but I want y'all to know I called up the website "192 Insult-one-liners" while Sharwyn was in her cell... digging through them and waiting for the right time to throw one in. I wish I could claim creativity enough to belt out all those insults.

I think my favorite one was at the Outpost, by the portal when the "armored man" said he wanted to make sure we didn't 'run away' Sharwyn's response was directly to him was,
"If we wanted to commit suicide, we would climb up your ego and jump to your IQ."

It's not always you have the opportunity to roll out of a restful reverie. Awakening to the pleasant smell of fire, brimstone and death while structures collapse and the citizens are screaming. To dress in the finest and most noble silks and robes, to have a hearty cereal to start into the cycle (rothe-flakes obviously) and then leave one's house out into the open street of the Devil's Table, ready to be headed to work, just to be shot twelve-times into the knee by devil's the moment you step foot outside before getting tentacle-appendage-bitch-slapped by another devil before you could even think the phrase "Greater Sacntuary".

Aaah. Just your average saturday night-cycle in Andunor. <3

Two small things.

1) Mega, Mega Kudos to the player (he knows who he is) who approached me about this. I pushed the job onto Mantis due to rl events nad had to be there a little late. But I really want to stress a huge 'Thank you' for organizing this. It's so rare to see Team Good (for lack of a better phrase, though Team Surface is maybe more accurate) take the offensive in events, and it's a real delight when they do. It's something I definatly want to encourage. This will be the sort of event people will speak of for OOC years I think. Really brilliant stuff.

2) One note about events like this. As DMs we can generally set NPCs as Hostile to everyone- or Not Hostile to everyone. There's a few exceptions with a lot of work, but in general it is one or the other. So - when it comes to massive attacks like this we can either give the 'defending' players some npcs to help activly defend them... but sadly these 'defenders' may by default turn on their own side (see the above, with devils also attacking underdarkers). Or we can forgo NPC defenders entirely, which especialy in MASSIVE battles like the above, can be unrealistic, and also cause some understandable anger from certain sides. We know it's a pain, but it's just the way NWN works. So when/if there are more big events like this (and after the success of this one, I anticipate there might be, on one side or the other) please do keep this in mind.
This too shall pass.

(I now have a DM Discord (I hope) It's DM GrumpyCat#7185 but please keep in mind I'm very busy IRL so I can't promise how quick I'll get back to you.)

Well it was certainly one hell of a show. Was happy to see the UD PC's show up when they did so we could get to the real fighting :). Tiny amounts of lag but concidering what was going on it was as if there was zero lag as I got to choose my tagets or back off if they retreated through a transition. Folloing through a transition in lag never has a good out come. So awesome kudos for the server holding strong and Kudos to those improving Arelith.

I managed some kills, managed to stay alive for the beginning of the retreat, then once back in the tunnels I held back to be the last in the retreat. Yea, only to he green handed right at a doorway to the first big room back in the sewers, lol. Funny part was, I was amazed how long it took before someone finally decided to kill me.

Loads of fun
