Chance to edit artifacts keeping their track to the Staff

We will file suggestions here that did not make the cut. Don't expect detailed responses, but the most common reasons are:

  • implementing the suggestion is impractical, or too much work for the gain
  • the suggestion is thematically against our design philosophy
  • the suggestion is too detailed/low-level
Keep your suggestions broad and focused on RP benefits, please, not detailed suggestions of how to fix everything.

Chance to edit artifacts keeping their track to the Staff

Post by The Man of the Moon »

To allow us a better enrichment of the Role Playing and the legendary items of Arelith...

There is a way how we could edit the artifacts, allowing us to personalization without remove from them the [Artifact] tag nor the descriptive origin about where and who found it, so the DMs could still allowed to track them.

Add a npc for the Underdark and the Surface (Arcane Tower and llolth temple?) known as The Goldsmith, the Artificer, etc... Or maybe this option could be given to Thoramind and his "partner" in the Underdark.

Why do this through an NPC and not allow players to follow this? Could some could ignore the rule or do it in purpose to delete the "Artifact" trackeable tag... So the NPC can allow to edit, keeping the required tags.

The "Artificer" will allow a conversation offering a chance to "polish" your shiny artifact...

Basically, he will allow you to:

A. Rename the item (keeping the tag "[Artifact]" appended to your given name.

Sample:

Artificer: “How do you want to rename your treasure?”

You: Gandalf’s Staff

Artificer: “Is this the name you want to chose?” (he then will show your chosen name, adding as “surname” the tag [Artifact]

1. Gandalf’s Staff [Artifact] (option pick able in the convo with the Artificer)
2. No, I want to select a different name. (return to previous convo)

B. Add new paragraphs to the Description (but never removing the first one where there is told where was it found and who found it.

Sample:

Artificer: “Do you want to attach the history of this artifact?”
You:
1. Yes.
2. No.

After “yes” option, he will allow you to edit the description, allowing the option to add new paragraphs, but not to replace the previous one where it is said who found the artifact and where.

Many players requested a chance to personalice their artifacts, what could give a lot of colour and allow a better immersion (like making certain items attached with settlements rewards, etc) and even then, this way will keep the requirement of our DMs to be allowed to track them.

Cheers.
