Dex Battle Cleric
Hi guys,
Long time player first time poster! Love Arelith, love the rp and I wanna make this character for rp purposes but I am so bad at character building i'm terrified i'll invest a lot of time into a character doomed from the beginning! I was wondering could anyone help me build a Dex based melee Cleric of Lovitar That has weapon prof exotic? Must be Human and must be lawful evil. One more thing I would appreciate if nobody suggests Monk/Cleric builds, I don't wanna contribute to the cheese :/
Thanks for the help guys really!

Re: Dex Battle Cleric
Dual katanas, they can be finessed and are exotic.
Also trash at builds but i would guesstimate a blend of 20+ cleric with fighter/pdk and rogue

Monk/Clerics are terrible on Arelith. There'd be no "cheese" to contribute to.

If you're looking to use a whip as your main combat weapon (which, Loviatar + exotic proficiency suggests you might), be aware that the default whip disarm property might prevent GMW from being used (not sure on this, can anyone confirm?), there are no good crafted whips, and so far as I know only one good whip in the loot matrix... which as I recall is restricted to evil elves and probably has an insane UMD requirement.
So, uh. That's a challenge.
If, however, you're cool with having another weapon for combat and whip for flavor, then maybe we can pull something off.

Re: Dex Battle Cleric
Hey guys thanks for the comments! Sorry for late reply think we may be on different time zones
I don't intend on using the whip in combat i Just wanna be able to use it because a lovitarian should be able to use one! I'll consider any weapon
What's better in combat, a dex cleric or a str cleric? I wan't this priest to be all about combat and buffing himself so High wisdom might not be hugely important?

Re: Dex Battle Cleric
Str battle clerics are viable.
23/4/3 is a good split (cleric/ftr/rogue)
You'll want to take one fighter in epic to get ews. There's prolly a build floating around in the forum's somewhere if you want an exact guide.

Thankfully this team is no longer being used.

Re: Dex Battle Cleric
You can always take just a slice of Clerk for super-buff-mode, I think 10-15 is the amount to pull it off. Along with that, you can take Fighter2-4 for supplementary feats and Rogue13 for Epic Dodge. SD might be a stretch due to the feat requisites. When you run out of your buff repertoire, consisting mostly of extended Divine Favor and Divine Power, you turn into a worse than average rogue type.
It's not the optimal build, but it does work well enough to run in PvM. You'll be a dispel bait and the doomsayers of the build forum will dissuade you, but if it's really the concept you want to play, we can look at the numbers together.
Even if you don't want to RP a monk, I can imagine there being some nice RP concepts for a monk of Loviatar (not trying to convince you otherwise, just thinking out loud): the flagellant in penance, the disciple of pain, etc.

Re: Dex Battle Cleric
I'd highly recommend giving Cortex's post on clerics a read. You could probably do a Dex battlecleric build based on the outline there and wear Dex/Con gear, though your damage wouldn't be as impressive as with the traditional Str-based battlecleric. You'll also likely be tight on feats, what with taking exotic proficiency and weapon finesse, so might have to choose between ESF Evocation and ESF Conjuration.churchburner666 wrote:Opustus wrote:You can always take just a slice of Clerk for super-buff-mode, I think 10-15 is the amount to pull it off. Thanks for the advice manI'm gonna have a mess around with some builds.
Personally I'd suggest 23 cleric/4 fighter/3 rogue, nets you epic spells, which... are good. Take last fighter in epic levels on the same level that you get a general feat and AFTER picking up epic weapon focus, which will let you get weapon specialization and EWS on the same level.

That guide was super helpful thanks very much! I'm just gonna keep things simple and go str cleric witha few flavor feats thrown in
