Shadow Evade feels like it takes forever to cast?

Does it take a whole round to cast it? I typically end up using it in combat during tight situations, since it's only 3 uses per rest, and it's always the longest 3 to 5 seconds of my life watching my character activate it.

It would be cool if it insta-casted if used by an epic shadow dancer, or something of that like.

It's a spell like ability, so it takes as long as it would if it was a spell. It's probably only half a round if hasted.
