Bashed Fixture Immortality- Barricades

Post by Aelryn Bloodmoon »

The Barricade fixtures, when bashed, should possibly not garner the same immortality-for-24 hours benefit as other fixtures. In RP, they are the only fixtures meant to be used as barricades, and if someone RP's the effort of destroying them, the result should not then be an impervious barricade they can't do anything about for 24 hours.

None of the other fixtures are meant to be used as barricades, so should not require this change.

The intention of allowing the fixtures to remain as 'remains' after bashing is to allow a few RL days for their repair.
Use of fixtures remains as a barricade is not an intended use and is considered an exploit. Please report misuse of the fixture remains being used this way.

My point is that if you put down a series of barricade (Edit: Please read this as, the barricade fixture that is meant to be used as a barricade) fixtures, and someone destroys them, they then become an indestructible barricade, regardless of intentions.

It's a case where the intention of the nice thing automatically causes a correctly used function to become an incorrect one.

The concern is certainly an understandable one.

The Cheval de Frise fixture is a large and lengthy one (as befits its purpose). When destroyed, however, the 'Remains' are significantly smaller. If a contiguous barricade of Cheval de Frise fixtures were to be bashed, there would be multiple gaps through which attackers can enter.

Admittedly, it might be possible to array them in such a way that they clip with each other, intentionally creating an impenetrable barrier even when the fixtures are broken. We would strongly encourage players NOT to do this, as it would be exploitative behavior, and punished appropriately.
