I began forging bulk brass ingots by starting two (5 copper ingots, 5 zinc ingots). Both checks succeeded, and I have 2 bulk brass ingots stacked on top of each at 0%. I then proceeded with production and finished one, which resulted in 10 brass ingots being added. However, both of the 0% brass ingots were removed from the forge and disappeared.
Proceeded with crafting of two 0% brass ingots. Finished crafting one, but both In Progress bulk ingots were removed, leaving me with only 10 ingots.

This happens with a few different crafting productions. You just have to be careful to always unstack them if they do get stacked.
