As I recall from pen and paper, it's possible to put for instance a lvl 5 spell in a lvl 6 slot. Thus giving casters that prepare spellbooks some more options for focussing on certain spells for something. This would be really helpful for all us team buffers fitting spellbooks to big parties. Nor does it give an unfair advantedge as I see, since the caster would still be giving up a higher slot that could be used for something stronger.
But basically, make any spell in a characters spellbook able to be slotted in a higher level spell slot than the spell itself.
Slotting lower level spells in higher level slots.

This is a really interesting idea, and not I have considered before.
I don't know if it is possible, and I suspect it will cause a lot of potential strangeness.
I was minded to approve this, until I remembered just what I found so distasteful about infinite casters, who would use the same spells in combination repeatedly, I think we should encourage casters to fully utilise the variety on offer.
Rejected (but if one of the development want to talk me round that's fine!)
