Correction...none of the stated changes from this update appear to be in game. Just tested on surface server.

1) The new spell descriptors are not in the wizard's spellbook. They still use the old descriptors.

2) Nahal;s Reckless Dwoemer still has a typo, unless its just a little bit of extra chaos?

3) Most significantly, Improved Chaos Shield, which is not longer an instant effect but a duration spell, seems not to be on the metamagic list.

Is the improved chaos shield actually working yet? To create a radius of chaos I mean. It had the intended effect on the PGCC but when I tried it on my wild mage on the regular servers it didn't happen.

I just tried again and am not seeing the old chaos shield effect when casting the spell.

I don't really have time to make another on the PGCC right now but I did see it work there.

There is of course some possibility I'm doing it wrong, but I'm pretty sure this is the case. This isn't a character I am really playing at the moment and was just trying it out to see what the update brought so maybe someone who's "main" is a wild mage would either back me up or say I'm mistaken.


(I am really happy the old effect is being brought back, the field of chaos was sorely missed)

Think its more the descriptions are not updated yet? Also Detect Poison, a new spell, may not be available? But all scripted thigns should be.

I didn't look at the spell descriptions- I just cast the spell, stood with enemies in melee proximity and no chaos effects fired up.

There's an aura, it will increase its chance every X round mobs are inside the aura given enoug time something should trigger. Pay attention to the combat log as there are saves involved as well.

I didn't see an aura and was checking the combat logs letting it go for 5-10 rounds, at least-- I remember how it used to work, it's an old character and not my first wild mage. I saw it working correctly on the PGCC.

I'll log in on them later and play around more. Have you seen it working on the server yourself? If so maybe I had bad luck or lag problems or who knows, I only tried it twice. Thanks.

Err wait are we talking about Chaos Shield or IMPROVED Chaos Shield?

Chaos Shield (Level 2 spell) now scales as according to the Update Notes.

Improved Chaos Shield (Level 7 spell; I should change this name!) is now a defensive aura with quite visible VFX.

And EDIT: Seems the HAK update is not live so the Improved Chaos Shield is still referencing the OLD script not the new one.

Sorry for the confusion.. I said "improved" in the first post but not the follow up.

Thanks for looking into it and looking forward to using it in game.

Back to regular connectivity, just tested, and the changes don't seem live.

That is...at least as it pertains to Wild Mages and the Detect Poison spell. I see in the other forums people getting hit with the monster use of the Poison spell, so maybe just that part is in? I don't have ready characters to test all aspects of the update.

Script things are in which dont need Hak update. So Chaos Shield and the Poison spell are live.

Improved Chaos Shield and Detect Poison required a .2da update which needs a Hak release so they are not live no not yet. We've had some delays on this internally but it should be live soon I think. All other things like the Poison system update and otehr Wild Mage stuff are live.
