Kalo's Arelith Build & Gear Calculator (Updated: March 11, 2025)

Hello everyone!

This server has been around for years and years, yet great RP and a team of active developers keep things interesting for everyone. While I greatly enjoy all the new classes, paths and game mechanics, it can be hard to keep track of all the server-specific changes when building a new character.

That's why I've been working on a custom adaptation of Kamiryn's Character Build Calculator (V2) in order to save time when planning new Arelith characters. I've been thinking about sharing my work with the community "once it's finished", but such projects are never really finished, are they? :)

This spreadsheet includes most of Arelith's custom paths, HAK changes, subraces, gifts and other goodies, all integrated into an overhauled CBC interface.

It also features a gear calculator that will let you plan your characters' equipment at level 30 and insert the resulting bonuses in most of CBC's calculations.

I've only tested the build calculator in Microsoft Excel. Other software may or may not work as expected. Also note that some features might not be working 100% reliably, and certain classes or feats might seem (un-)available even though they are not. PGCC testing is thus always recommended!

The drop down menu for classes seems to be empty.

Truly hope that this might aid in increasing mechanical awareness among some players, which consequently - hopefully - improves the quality of forum discussions regarding mechanics.

Is there any reasoning behind the colour scheme? Currently, I find the palette a tad chaotic and rather unpleasant to look at. If there is no legend of any kind, then it might be nice for people to know that they can change the sheet's colours to their liking.

CBC makes quite heavy use of Excel's conditional formatting features, so editing the colors is more complex than I'd prefer it to be. There is plans to alter the color scheme in future though, just haven't got around to it yet :)

Archer for example. Since AA won't be approved due to the lack of point blank (which archer gains automatically)

I haven't actually added the Archer path yet, but you can just go with Ranger and manually type the names of the bonus feats Archers get in the Bonus Feat columns :)

If I remember this when I update the sheet, I might add an Archer path option to remove the need for a workaround.

Took me a few minutes to suss this out too - you need to scroll right a bit to where it asks you your three classes. Once you've selected those, the level-by-level dropdown on the extreme left will be populated with just those three.

OP updated with a new version!

Changes:
- Added Shaman, Favored Soul, Cavalier, Archer and True Flame to the class selection
- Fixed Warlocks being unable to select Spell Foci

I can't seem to get this to load once I've DL'd it. Apache Open Office opens up, then it just goes into infinite load screen. I'm probably making some dumb mistake or something (not very good with computers) - Does anyone have advice?

Oh shoot, for some reason I didn't even think to check if it was an Excel file. Darn. Thanks, that explains things!

OP updated with another new version!

Changes:
- Updated Shaman and Favored Soul with latest changes, amount of known spells is accurate now
- AB calculation for Monk builds is accurate now
- DC calculation for Shadow Daze and Terrifying Rage updated
- (Epic) Skill Focus in Stealth and Detect now apply the expected bonuses to both skills
- Paladins get hard WIS every 7 levels now, as they should!

You've done amazing work on this! Thanks for taking the time to do this.

I was using this to try and plan out one of my existing character's epic levels and noticed that it appears the Assassin is still stock. At least in terms of the feats are considered. It doesn't have any of the new feats that are gained automatically, nor does it have the spells that have been added as abilities. I know it's a lot of work to keep up with this, and things can be overlooked which is why I am bringing this up.
