Underdark animal companions (Ranger feedback)

Not sure if this has been brought up in the past, but would it be possible for Underdark PCs to have a bit more variety on animal companions? It could simply be re-skinned versions based on the standard animals to be honest, it just seems a bit un-immersive to have characters based in the depths running around with bears, wolves, birds and things that are completely out of their natural habitat.

I did have a suggestion approved for this, so may be done at some point.

Likely on the low end on what to do though understandably, as a lot of other things to do first.

I believe this was once a thing years ago until the server reverted companions back to vanilla NWN. I remember rangers having a rothe pet that was amazing.
