Polymorph + Barbarian Tribal Warriors

Post by Defense Light Fables »

Description
==========
You can polymorph before rage-summoning your tribal warriors to make them have a different shape. For example, if you want them to be trolls, you can polymorph into a troll.

Steps to reproduce
----------------------------
Polymorph into your desired creature, summon your tribal warriors.

Expected result
-----------------------
Non-polymorphed tribal warriors that are regular humans, half-orcs, etc.

Actual result
-------------------
Monsters.

Notes
---------
This works with any form of polymorphization, whether it be from potion form or another class entirely.

I've always liked the unexpected result for some cool RP stuff and hope it doesn't change. Similar to a drow changing into a spider and using -project_image to have a thematic image. Think something like a shaman having 2 tribal "zombies" + undead summons fits the aesthetic or a goblin RPing that they hired 2 troll bodyguards for their adventures etc, especially as it is just cosmetic as opposed to any sort of power boost.

For project_image it makes sense, but for tribalsmen it doesn't. It also works on dragonshaped druids.

Totem Druids can already have summoned "rats" that are mechanically elementals and dragons so I'm not sure worrying about WYSIWYG visual vs mechanics for druids should be high up on the concern list.

You can also mimic this on the combat project_image, SD shadow, using mutation potions on existing summons etc.

The stuff totem druids summons really is abnormally tough rats.

However, the tribal barbarian ability is mundane and not magical. The idea is that you gained trust of your clan and they help you out.
And with current glitch, that can be

A clan of Cows. Or dragons. Or trolls.

Which doesn't make sense.

If it was some sort of equivalent of a shadow simalcrum, that would be another story. But it is not. It really shouldn't work this way.

A normal looking rat that's made of fire, crit immune, and burns you if you hit it. Tough isn't the word I'd personally pick.

As far as clans of dragons RP, it's in the same vein as if someone uses Shapechange to RP as a Dragon/Balor/whatever and your character can respond to it in the same manner. Your PC could believe it or think it's some illusion or transmutation.

I don't think we're going to sway each other and I've said my opinion for the Devs/DMs/admins to consider so I'll leave it be.
