Dwarven Defender Notice

Post by Arigard »

Just wondering what the reasoning is behind why it's the only mode that has a big sign above it's head when it's used? Is it really necessary? There are no other abilities that do the same and it almost completely nullifies the tactical element of using the ability as you broadcast clearly to everyone that you're going into it.

If parry, expertise and other modes don't give such an alert, I'm a bit lost as to why defensive stance needs one, all it seems to really do is detract the element of tactical surprise from it's use which is really what it's intended for surely? It also clutters up the chat massively over the period of a fight, especially if combat moves a lot.

Also whilst we're discussing is there anyway to make the action immediate like rage, rather than have a delay at the beginning? Would all go a way to make DD more of a worthwhile class.

I go back and forth between agreeing with the OP and thinking that all the combat stances should have a notification, or some sort of visual effect--or better yet, if possible, character animation. Wouldn't your opponent be able to see you switch to a defensive posture, for example?

This should be probably configurable, as I tend to type of "fights defensively" when switching between tiers of combat expertise.
Another forum ban, here we go again.

I wouldn't mind if it was consistent, but it should be either/or. Either all have a textual hint, or none should otherwise it seems confusing about why some do and some don't.

Stance was already the 2nd most obvious behind parry thanks to the moonwalk.

Who is the audience for this post?
