Memory Lane

Post by Skalding »

Anyone have favorite Arelith memories they'd like to share?

I sometimes wonder about that AeroMas guy that once terrorized the server, and what he's doing.

Also, I might be crazy-- but didn't Cordor once have a public bath house?!

One of the first big things I saw when i was but a little arelith babby was coming along with Wheua as she casted a ritual to make a dracolich up in old stonehold. Huge army of goodies busted in to stop her but alas, too late.

That was p. cool for a newer player. Whatever happened to Wheua?

The first time I was escorted through the forest, to the Mythal, and up to Myon. Straight out of a fantasy novel.

Being surrounded by six or seven drow in the old Jhared's Trading Post, back when it was the size of a shoebox, because they had never seen an orog before.

General spy-guild shenanigans, with different shady organizations competing with and infiltrating each other.

I loved the RP experience of going to the UD as a surfacer. For sure agreed that competing and plotting against warring factions has definitely been some of the most fun I've had. I played a Cyricist years ago, and played a coordinated massacre at the Arcane Tower that was crazy and fun to be a part of.

Its hard to pick anything. I imagine it's like being asked to pick a favorite song or even a favorite child.

Matron Drak'aa's heart in a jar and all of the weeks of hard work and great roleplay involved with that coup that my boys and girls put into making that happen. Doing what everyone thought was impossible.

Cordor's arena was in fact 2 arena guildhouses with quarters in them. "gladiator schools" was the theme back then (we were young).

I dont go back that far, but I remember when there was only Surface/UD servers. No Cordor split server, or planes, or distant shores.

Portalling out of the duergar king chambers, having to change servers since it sent you to the surface and finding yourself unbuffed standing right next to a rather powerful dragon.

JAKE MANDRAKE, PT1 - ARELITH: THE BACK CURSE OF NECROMANCERY

Jake Mandrake was one day sitting on Cordor reading newspaper and drinkeing coffe when he herd the King of Cordor talk in his palace. So Jake Mandrake finished his coffe and said “this sounds interesting I should move closert o the palace to hear better” so he walked really fast to window and listened from under it

“ god damn there are big monsters and necromanceries attacking my country. who can help me?” said the King of Cordor so Jake Mandrake jumped up throught he window and finished his coffe and said “i am Jake Mandrake and i am a druid I will help you king because its my duty to kill the world of all big monsters and necromancer” so he left the palace and did a backflip off the stairs and he landed on his horse and said “ok its time to do this!” and then he was driving at full speed on th eroad

Jake Mandrake was not always a druid. when he was little boy he watched his family be eated by zombies and gosts and yelled at them “I will pay you back, zombies and gosts!” and then he was a druid.
But now he was a adult and he had been waited for many year to pay back the zombies. Jake Mandrake checked his katana sword and he saw it was ok because he cut a tree with it as he rided past it. he looked up at the sky and looked up and said “its getting dark” so he made his horse walk even faster. in 5 minutes he looked and saw stonehold and he jumped his horse over an hole in the ground then he stopped. Because he knew he was there.

Jake Mandrake then got his katana sword and walked up steps but was stopped by zombies who came up from the ground but he cutted them and said “bye bye evil zombies!” and he laughed. He opened the door and saw stonehold was infected with necromancery. The grass was black and the clounds were filled with rain and there were zombies and gosts walkeing around in front of him. Jake Mandrake then cast spell to blew them all up and evil necromancer boss come up to him and talked to him why he blew up his army. Jake Mandrake did not listen to the necromancer boss and tried to cut at him but he had magic shield and was reflected. The necromancer boss then laughed and magic missled at Jake and exploded his katana sord. “no!” said Jake Mandrake “that was a gift from my father who was killed by zombies and gosts! I will defeat you evil necromancer boss because it is what I have to do as a druid of justice” and he entered a rage and punched the necromancer boss into a river of lava where he died. Then the river exploded and the necromancer boss soul walked up into the sky and all the necromancery in stonehold was gone. The grass became green and some birds were flyign into the sun. All the necromancery was gone.

Except for two.

JAKE MANDRAKE PT II - ARELITH: THE BLACK NIGT OF NECROMANCERY

after defeating all the necromanceries in Stonehold Jake Mandrake was tired. “I have revenged The King and my family its time to go home” said Jake so he walked out the door to his horse

stop!” said someone and Jake Mandrake looked around to see who it was until he looked at an halfling walking really fast toward him. “What?!” Jake said and tryed to get his sord but it was broken by the necromancery boss but the halfling put up his hand and said he is a speedy massager and has a letter for him. Jake picked up the letter and it reads:

”Jake Mandrake, your friend The King is verry bad sick and is currently in hopspital under intensif care” Jake Mandrake then jumped on his horse and rode it at maximum speed back to cordor. On the way, he said to himself “I must get to cordor at once!”
And then he was. It was at midnight and there was a dark cloud over the hopspital where The King Of Cordor was and he was almost dieing when Jake Mandrake got there. “You have completed your quest Jake Mandrake but before you there was another who tryed to kill all the necromanceries” said The King and he pulled of his bedcover showing his legs have been cutted off but now healed “it was me and the necromancery has infected me” it was then that Jake Mandrake saw The King had bone hands. “King you have bone hands!” Jake Mandrake gasped observently “the necromancery has eated them away and infected anyone in the palace” The King explained wisely “take the Holy Revenger from the palace and kill everyone of the necromaneries Jake. Me too.” Jake Mandrake was made sad by this but remembered his duty to kill the world of all necromanceries and killed The King with his pillow. He was made very angry at the necromanceries for making him kill his friend so he jumped out the window and landed on th edark street yelling at full force “I will revenge you!!” jake mandrake quickly walkrd to the palace and kickd the door open and he saw the nearest zombie gourd so he punch at it in the face but then it yelled
and lots of other zombie gaurd walked up and surrounded Jake Mandrake. he was verry angry and shouted at them: “you are stupid monsters eated my family and made me kill my friend The King I will destroy you” and then the zombies screamed because jake picd one up and throwed him on the others then tehy rand away. Jake patted his hand and laughed at them “ maybe you are not stupid “ Jake said laughingly. he walked quickly to the king’s big chair room and looked for the Holy Revenger but he couldent see it because it wasnt there. Jake Mandrake looked up and saw the palace tower which had light comeing out of it and he knew it was there so he quickley walked up the stairs but was blocked by skeletrons who cutted at him and made him bleed but jake casted spell to kill the skeleton and it died. When he got to the highest tower he looked around and he dident see any necromanceries or gosts because the Holy Revenger in the middle of the room expelled them but then jake looked down and he saw zombies and skeletrons walking around cordor and infecting guys. He knowed what he had to be done. Jake Mandrake gotted the Holy Revenger and looked at all the necromanceries running around and said “The back curse of Necromancery is here. Time to get serius.”

JAKE MANDRAKE PT 3 - ARELITH: THE LAST DEATH OF UNDEATH

Jake Mandrake was on a mounten beating up dummy's and lerning karate when his teacher sudenly stopped him. "Jake Mandrake you have done well job at lerning karate but before you can grajewate from my karate shcoll there is one last thing you must do." teacher said and got into a fighting stanse "you must beat up me!" Jake Mandrake nod at this because he new what had to be done he bowed at teacher and said "you have been a good teacher but now it is time for me to take my sertificat in karate and leave to revenge the death of my parents who have been eated by the necromanceries" Jake Mandrake said and he tryed to beating up his teacher but he got Jake into an arm lock and he was treatening to break his hand. Teacher laughed and said "Jake Mandrake perhapes you shud go back to betting up dummys! Ha ha ha!" but Jake chukled and did a reversall and throwed teacher into the wall and the wall break and teacher landed in kitchen of karate school whenre the other puppyls were eatting breakfast. Jake Mandrake step through hole in wall and when the dust fell down in the kitchen he looked at teacher who was standing up. Teacher touch his beard and laugh while looking at Jake Mandrake wisely Jake showed him a thumb up and laughed too but then he turn around and run away on his horse.
now Jake Mandrake was in the talles ttowar of cordor castel looking down on the city where the necromanceries were beatting up guys. he was made angerous when he see random people be killed and eated by zombies and skeletrons so he gotted his holy revenger and jump down tower. underhim was an zombie who looked up and yelled when he see Jake Mandrake land on him and crush him. "on the menu today zombie pancake" Jake laffingly said and he started cutting at zombies with his holy revenger. when the normal people see this, they come out of house because they see Jake Mandrakes bearvery and they become brave too so they start beatting up the necromanceries in stead of being eated by them. the necromanceries gasp because they see they are loosing so they run back to the graveyard where they come from. Jake Mandrake turned back to the normal peopel of Cordor and said "you normal people stay here" and he point to the ground "i will go to the crips and beat up their boss" so he quickley walk away and walked into the graveyard where he see the necromanceries going back into the cripts. "not so fast!!" Jake said and charged at them tossing zombies and skeletrons in his way into the sky and back on the ground then he slam into the door which crashed open to expos the cripts and he see one million necromanceries running at him with the big boss behind them who laughed maniclly at jakes predictament. "Now Jake Mandrake it is time for you to die and join my army of necromanceries as the new necromancery boss to replace the one you killed!" Jake Mandrake laughed in his face and throwed his holy revenger at big boss and while it was flying at big boss he gotted ready in a karate stans and said "brin git here"

Oof.. I remember a near decade ago of quests.

I remember a vampire heavy incident where a bunch of level 30 clerics barely managed to beat a single Vampire, culminating months later with a Tormite Paladin claiming the Sunsword (Perhaps the most overpowered piece of equipment ever to be in a PC's hands on the server. +20 vs undead, on hit sunstrike etc, etc -- safe to say it didnt stay in their hands!)

I also seem to remember when Cordor Crypts were absolutely full of traps and there was a Beholder at the end because of..reasons.

I also seem to remember getting to the boss at the top of the Manor of Mourne solo with a Mute Elven Rogue called "F'ehn" - who was level 13 at the time. I seem to recall lower level characters just didnt spawn anything in these areas except for bosses - And epic traps are a thing.

Also turns out that the last boss of that particular area is basically immune to everything you can put in a trap. He did not escape.

Somewhere between having a (macguffin) one million gold piece bounty on my head while being chased by the DM only to blow myself up with my own 'Glpyh of Warding'.

Or having the lovely pleasure of being stranded on a deserted island by Mila Brown with a note "Get a tan" only for a monsoon to roll in minutes later.

I never laughed so hard.

I think one of the most memorable moments was when my first character heard about the Black Archers of Shevaresh, and I went "ooooh I want to be that." And then Trintiren told me to go talk to to Aedriath.

Then Aedriath told me, "uh, no. you can't be one. You need to be like X, Y, Z."

I think it was this surreal moment of how Arelith felt alive. I couldn't just do 'everything'. I was going to be told 'no.' It wasn't a hard no, but it was like a challenge imposed on me by another character/group of characters.

Had a whole arc of trying to be more like a Black Archer, but never officially became one. It led to a whole lot of storytelling, though. It was incredible.
