Deity selection on new character

Definitely a bug here, but I am unsure where the bug is.

Made an Aurilite Shaman, filled in the deity box on creation, took the gift of the unholy, logged onto Skal and made a visit to the Aurilite shrine on the hill. When I selected "use" on the altar, it told me the altar was consecrated to another deity. I was going to try and reconsecrate it to Auril but I thought I should check whom it was consecrated to first (Which, by the by, shouldn't that information be presented anyway? Why should we only know who it is attuned to if it is our god? Had a nasty surprise once when a Selunite half elf attuned to an altar of Torm only to be told she was now attuned to Shar....) when I attuned to the altar it told me I was now attuned to Auril. That stumped me somewhat, any further attempts to attune tell me I am now attuned to my patron.

Double checked the character in my vault, definitely has Auril in the deity box. Praying at the altar gets me 0.1 piety per tick, I am getting no piety gain from killing things, so the server clearly doesn't think I have Auril as a patron, -date tells me my patron deity is blank.

TLDR: Either Auril as a Patron is bugged, Patrons for Shamen are wonky (have tried other Shaman briefly and deities seemed to work i think, at least didn't notice any issues) or there is an issue with the altar, but given the result of -date probably not the latter.

Either way I am kicking myself for ditching my book of the gods.

You can change your deity in the rest menu under Character -> Deities

The creation box does nothing. That menu is what controls it.

Aaaaand the issue resolves itself. It seems I forgot that Auril has that bloody stupid alignments list and thus does not grant Divine spells to CE, it seems she doesn't grant her atunement bonuses to CE either.

There is certainly some sort of issue at hand... no matter what Altar I use now, any attempt to attune simply tells me "You have once again become attuned to your patron."

So as things stand, only way to attain piety is to pray at an altar for a 0.1 per tick gain. Unsure if I will be getting god saves either...

Sounds like you don’t have a deity.

Type -date and show me what it says.

It is blank. Issue right now is, if I use the rest menu to assign Auril, i don't have the option. Perhaps related to the alignment issue.

Your alignment wouldn't have let you set to Auril as it is. So, no you won't be able to select it without changing your alignment (to LN, NE, or CN--she has one of the weird alignment spreads).

Everything is working as expected.
