The Great Drow Diminishing

While Drow are typically smaller, they are not this much smaller then elves.

Image The typical picture used to compare the races compares a hunched over wizard to muscle endowed melee and ranged classes.

From a practical, in game consequence, a -15% height drop for males makes it almost impossible for them to disguise, as it is impossible for a male elf to be less then -5% height.

I think a subtle -5% height loss would work better. This drastic change makes it even more difficult for drow PCs to blend in anywhere in Arelith they aren't welcome (which is most of it).

Also, male drow are not smaller than female drow? Not sure why they were arbitrarily made so on Arelith.

I think the changes are hilarious and I'm alright with them. I imagine it will mess up with disguises though, yeah. Also: the npcs seem to have their original heights still. If you want a good laugh, take your male drow towards a male npc drow and compare the two.

I'm mostly just a bit confused since NWN elf models are already drow height. If anything the other elven races should have been made taller.

Hahahahahaha we can finally infiltrate the great grotto and bendir dale.

But on a serious note, I can already see the WYSIWYG being abused on every single drow disguise.

The height change is too much. Pictures used with permission.

I agree that the change was too much. The height they were at was good for drow already, it's the other elf types that should have been made taller to bring them more in line with their FR counterparts.

Please, please reduce this to something more reasonable, maybe 5% for males and 2% for females. Or take the other suggestion in this thread and make non-drow elves taller. Current configuration looks quite silly and produces clipping problems with chairs, even at taller drow heights.

More pictures (my drow is "above average" height and is shorter than this duergar)

This was the temples grand plan. Our ceremony shrunk everyone.

*Small squeaking noises beneath feet that everyone ignores*
*The tiny drow have now met the RP required for PVP yet no one knows because they're so small no one could hear it.*
*People start dying, you hit tab and see floating names but can't target anyone.*

I actually though they /were/ evil hin.

I mean DnD has dark mirror races for most fair folk, so why shouldn't the Drow be the evil opposite of hin?

Oh wait....

Some actual Feedback:
Lore average race size is one thing and characters that players want to be is another. Personally it bothers me not only cause size change turned out to be more than expected - it bothers me the change was made at all. Please don't go that direction.

I have nothing against it if someone wants to play a small drow - problem is if I'm prevented from playing tall one.

Actually problem starts when people tell others what character they MUST play. Tall sized drow are perfectly within reason even if majority of players choses to play PC taller than average race representation due to cosmetic preference therefore ruining "average" image.

Use your imagination, fill that city with midget drow NPC if you'd like and let majority of players play what they prefer. All within reasons of course - and I'd consider old height settings without ANY changes perfectly reasonable.

You don't need to tone them down just cause average player prefers above average height.

Changing such aspects AFTER someone already made his character and breathed life into it feels just wrong.

Edit:
Small note about male/female height difference. https://forgottenrealms.fandom.com/wiki/Drow
It was believed that females were generally BIGGER and stronger than males,[22] but BOTH sexes varied in height between 4′7″ (140 cm) and 5′5″ (165 cm)
Bigger doesn't mean taller - especially with how height is given in next paragraph for BOTH genders.
Also it turns out females probably had empty bones like birds cause according to linked article with sources from manuals females were bigger and lighter at the same time :P
