Should drow crossbows be alignment restricted?
I've been wondering why there is an alignment restriction to these weapons. I wonder if it comes from a time where weapons couldn't locked into a specific race? Having a weapon drow would naturally be trained to use, be unavailable due to an alignment restriction, seems rather odd. I would think they would follow the same restrictions as the orog weaponry. Locked to their specific race. The weapons can only be made by drow, and it's only natural for them to only be useable by those that were trained in their use, drow. I don't understand how being evil, plays into the weapons at all. If looking at it from an rp perspective, how would not being evil, prevent a drow from learning to use their famed weaponry. There's nothing particularly evil about them, except they are made and used by drow, but that just goes back to making it a weapon any drow could use, regardless of their alignment.

Yup. And it's not worth the time or the effort to change.BattleDrake wrote: Tue Jul 21, 2020 1:30 amI wonder if it comes from a time where weapons couldn't locked into a specific race?
Of all the thousands of things that need fixing or updating, this is likely so close to the bottom of the list that it'll never be touched, unless there's an overhaul that just happens to sweep it up along the way.

Repeater crossbows, by this stage of Arelith's tech advancement, should be well within the hands of any race to use - given the tech claimed to be involved in Assembly Tewmplates (read their descriptions), mechanical looms (Tungsten Turret), printing presses, and so on, it'd make sense to remove both the alignment and the race restrictions from Drow Repeating Crossbows (and the name).
If you want to specify that a drow, gnome, or what have you has to be able to craft them, then sure I guess, but their use restrictions make no sense in the age of Assembly Templates and the Ashwould Repeating Crossbow.

Even the now mostly obsolete Vlos'Khaliiz bolts are alignment restricted.
