Monk Attack Bonuses

Post by RedGiant »

I've been playing a pure monk lately as a main and am noticing a consistent AB drop of 2...not related to flurry of blows. Since the monk in question is in the range where 2 ab is their special unarmed Arelith bonus, I'm inclined to think the problem is here. I cant find a triggering event for this drop...and seems to happen even just walking around. Transitions maybe? Reequipping gloves seems to fix it, but this is a pain, and many times I'm mid-combat before I realize it has dropped again and I'm not hitting anything. This is particularly problematic/noticeable when you flip on flurry of blows, and you then experience a collective 4 ab drop.

There may also be some other Arelith ab wonkiness along with this. Was playing around with a lizard bane on the same character and my ab vs. kobolds, etc. was 10 higher instead of the anticipated 2!!!

This could be related.

*Edit: Did some more testing and this is totally related. Equipping a shuriken drops my characters ab appropriately, but then on unequipping it, it does a little flicker dance of bad math.

1) For example, unbuffed monk has a 34 fisted AB. E (+4 gloves, +3 EWF, +2 Arelith unarmed combat mastery)
2) Equips bronze shurikens which he has no feats toward drops it to 25. (34 - 9 = 25...all good there.)
3) Unequips shurikens, which should revert back to line 1, raises ab to 32. (Seems to be missing unarmed combat mastery, but sometimes also briefly flickers 29, then 32 ab. Something is definately wonky in this step, the ranged unequip.)

It's more than just ranged weapons though.
Often after buffing I'll notice my sheet isn't showing the bonuses my gloves give (+4 ab/+10 dmg) and they don't return unless I start unequipping/re-equipping gear.
I didn't check the combat log to see if it was really gone though.

Unequip the gloves and put them back on to fix the issue.
Has been like this all the time.

I suspect it is something with the Arelith specific combat mastery. Its definitely reproduceable with the ranged method above, but agree I've noticed it in other instances as well.

Ive also noticed a precipitous drop at times until reequipping, where this ab loss seems to stack, but I haven't been able to nail this down yet. (Reminiscent of the shape-changed druid/monk stacking ab drop, which could be related, but I haven't played on in ages.)
