As of the split of the Soulhaven/New City area of the Skull Crags off from the rest of the surface, trying to take a caravan to Soulhaven appears to just dump you in the Caravan Area ("On The Road"). Once you're there, there appears to be no way out short of DM intervention:
1) The area is flagged as no-magic
2) The area is flagged as no-teleport
3) The area is flagged as no-death
-yoink and drinking oneself to death do nothing to help you escape, proving that the caravan master is a demon who travels through hell to get to his destinations
