it seems that the bardsong synergies with other classes - that is, for example, rogue levels being added to bardsong levels when using pilfering poem for example - simply does not work.

here's the skills AFTER using bardsong. notice that OL got increased only by 11, which is literally lvl 20 baseline song and lvl 20 pilfering poem.
