Re: Focus bar
let us all join together and carry a prayer to the NUI gods and maybe we get a bar with Focus/blood/whatever like divine shield.

Also that empty space to the right of the bar is actually room for special icons and mechanics, it just needs setting up.

Re: Focus bar
So if I get it correctly, the idea is eventually to stack a bunch of meters in a list with respective icons and a player can then turn on and off different meters and the ones turned on will all appear in that list?Sincra wrote: Fri Sep 02, 2022 9:08 pmviewtopic.php?f=23&t=25&start=1050#p305173AstralUniverse wrote: Fri Sep 02, 2022 7:41 pm let us all join together and carry a prayer to the NUI gods and maybe we get a bar with Focus/blood/whatever like divine shield.

Re: Focus bar
That focus bar NUI will be just for the focus bar or blood bar, whatever it ends up being representative of for Invoker.
The missing items actually need adding, there is an invisible placeholder there right now, specifically meant to represent your special abilities.
It can however easily be extended slightly to accomodate another bit of information.
I'm against making windows or a giant list for every little cooldown or meter as we quickly become mmo tier screens full of popups or readouts, resulting in a tiny area of game.
Needless to say I think the cooldown system we have works fine and if anything the better solution to cooldowns is removing all charges of an ability when not useable and return them when it is, this is more in line with how the game already behaves.

Re: Focus bar
We already have these icons with timers when you click them. How 'crowded' a screen is with info is always a player's choice. I know for example that I play windowed in a setting that allows me to have both sheet and inventory open while I combat and it only takes away about 20% of the screen on each side and it leaves a lot of 'screen' for my taste. The information is already there. The 'mmo' tier complexity is already there. I personally find it cumbersome to type -cd or click icons in the heat of battle because the text flows in the combat log just way too fast sometimes. So that's just my two cents. And from a thematic perspective I'd also agree with the argument that some abilities shouldnt have timers at all, and their duration is unknown to the character, but that's a different discussion.Sincra wrote: Fri Sep 02, 2022 11:37 pm I'm against making windows or a giant list for every little cooldown or meter as we quickly become mmo tier screens full of popups or readouts, resulting in a tiny area of game.

Re: Focus bar
So do I understand the answer as it will be done?
May I ask when? Roughly?
Just the number is enough.
Subjective opinion, which has nothing to do with the topic. I personally do not like bars, it looks weird in nwn. Nwn style is different. Those bars looks like lightsaber fight. I would prefer to just have a number there (71.2/75.0 | 6), minimalistic, but gives me all the information I need.
