"-ward teleport" should block cross server entry

Originally this was going to be a bug report but I'm not sure if it's actually a bug or just an implementation detail. But right now, a person who wants to seal off an area from entry can use "-ward teleport" to block the portals in the area from allowing entry. However, the problem with this as implemented is that it only works against players who are on the same server as the -ward already. If you -ward a locale on Surface for example and someone tries to come from Dis they will be able to warp to the -ward blocked portal in my experience.

I personally hate that Ward with a passion myself, as it's the first thing cast before any hint of conflict, which in turn removes one more method to avoid conflict.

But I digress. It seems like a minor bug issue that is not so disruptive as to need an immediate fix.

This is a limitation due to how cross server communication is done.
Recent technology shifts may enable a solution but that is something Hoodoo will need to look at.

Sounds like the intended use to me. You can also vacate the area and teleport in these situations, if it's happening enough I'd be investing in this strategy.

The most relevant usecase I can think of would be Sencliff where the un-restricted destination portal means that raids are easy and the locations status as a pseudo-settlement means that there's no rule limit on how many people can join a deathball to murder whoever happens to be hanging around the docks. In theory they could have someone ward the portal to mitigate this but because of how the mechanic works it's not an especially useful tactic because raiders can just server hop and then warp over anyway.

To me, that sounds like a deliberate exploit of a server mechanic, and should be reported as such for DMs to look into

You would need to demonstrate it's a purposeful exploit which is my point. People coming from C&P or the Underdark aren't going to know in advanced that you happen to have warded the portal on that particular day at that particular moment.

Thus why I am a student of the "Legs and lens" strategy!
