Hostilizer - feedback
Hello,
Please let me know in this thread of any bugs or teaks to the feat functionality.
There is one spelling mistake in the description.
Outside of it:
1) the AoE on location - size. Let me know if it should be lowered to allow more precise tagging.
2) the AoE on self - size. Let me know if it should be increased.

Re: Hostilizer - feedback
Having not tried it yet, I greatly appreciate this addition. I'd suggested it a while back and wanted to get it done but didn't have the time.
My only question is whether or not there's a way to securely unhostile now. That is something I think we've needed for quite a while. Did that ever get put in?

Re: Hostilizer - feedback
Swapping your own Hostile to Neutral is one thing, the risk is in having a good method that will not be abusable to mess with targetting effects.
I am considering, for now, a method that would announce PC attempts to unhostile and will do so after X seconds of standing still which would be interrupted on movement, entering combat, and being tagged again with hostile. But it has not yet been conceptualized fully.

Re: Hostilizer - feedback
This has the best, most apt icon in the game so far. I just wanted to get that out there.
Biz here was a constant subliminal hum, and death the accepted punishment for laziness, carelessness, lack of grace, the failure to heed the demands of an intricate protocol.

Re: Hostilizer - feedback
havent tried it yet. I plan to use it sometimes for not having to look for specific characters on the list, but otherwise I'll stick to ! for most situations.

The Hostilizer cancels (Improved) Expertise in all modes.
-hostile or ! does not do that.

Re: Hostilizer - feedback
Potentional bug/undesired feature:
When I log out with summoned golem and log back, it's friendly and out of party, then when I use hostilizer feat on that golem (was testing), it remains friendly, but every use gives me piety.
Will follow up if I test more.

Characters:
Cecil - Active
Qtar Thepetor - Lost in the Void
Rudolfo - Teleported thru the roof
Re: Hostilizer - feedback
I thought this was a meme when I first saw it on Discord, but it is /actually/ the icon. I am in absolute awe at its perfection.

I don't get it. It looks like an Octopus tentacle holding a knife. Is there a reference I'm supposed to understand?
Re: Hostilizer - feedback

Soonish I will have a look at the setting of the feat to address:
- Interactions with toggle feats (Expertise), I will look to make it not cancel stance feats.
- Interactions with the piety system, I will look to make it not generate piety.

The method I recommend: Full-resting resets hostile to everyone on the server.Amnesy wrote: Tue Nov 15, 2022 1:20 pm Swapping your own Hostile to Neutral is one thing, the risk is in having a good method that will not be abusable to mess with targetting effects.

If you get away, and can rest-- the people can then come back in disguises without being noticed, etc. Resting also isn't abusable in combat.

That is an interesting idea. Let me put it on the contributor's board as an option.dominantdrowess wrote: Thu Nov 17, 2022 9:09 pmThe method I recommend: Full-resting resets hostile to everyone on the server.Amnesy wrote: Tue Nov 15, 2022 1:20 pm Swapping your own Hostile to Neutral is one thing, the risk is in having a good method that will not be abusable to mess with targetting effects.

Re: Hostilizer - feedback
Do unseen (stealth/invis) within range get hostiled?
Re: Hostilizer - feedback
I have to ask.. Do we want memes leaping into the game from Discord? I mean one, fine, it's cute, but this seems like an iffy precedent.
Re: Hostilizer - feedback
I mean...yes? There's a big difference between a funny button and people making memes IC...
Re: Hostilizer - feedback
There will be an update on the script to cope with the piety and expertise, and it will also make sure the unseen are not taggable.

Re: Hostilizer - feedback
Personally, while I do find it humerous, it's not really obvious what it does and that's normally what I prefer in a button. The further we move forward in time from the other game's release, the less people who will understand, and as noted above, not everyone understands as it is.
Temporarily back to Arelith and currently 'Hanna'.
Re: Hostilizer - feedback
Yeah, but NWN the game has a consistent style and this breaks that for what is basically a silly joke. I wouldn't want this to be a recurring thing and have new abilities all have icons referencing memes from Discord/reddit/whatever.Subtext wrote: Fri Nov 18, 2022 10:49 am I mean...yes? It's also taken from another game, for what that's worth. This isn't a for-profit thing so nobody will care but I don't know if that's such a great idea.
Last I do think it becomes more difficult for DMs to come down on anyone bringing memes into the game when devs are bringing it into the UI. Not in a drastic way but it does suggest that kind of thing is okay here.
I don't need to go on and on about it but this just struck me as feeling out of place and I needed to say something. If nobody else cares then carry on.

Re: Hostilizer - feedback
It's just an icon. has a knife and a duck in it. If you get the joke, cool. If you dont get the joke or dont care about it, cool as well. You can relate to the knife part in the icon then. I dont think we should be making a big deal out of it.

Re: Hostilizer - feedback
For what little it is worth, the button confused me as well until I read this thread.
Re: Hostilizer - feedback
For the record it's a goose... The character from Untitled Goose Game. A bit like putting Sonic on the haste icon.AstralUniverse wrote: Sat Nov 19, 2022 12:16 am It's just an icon. has a knife and a duck in it. If you get the joke, cool. I'm not making a big deal but it's fair to raise these concerns and it is a feedback section.
