Undeath Cleric Summoner

Heya, can anyone point me in the right direction to an optimal cleric undead summoner kind of build. Been playing Wiz/PM/Bard so far and all the suggestions I get is to play cleric instead, tho I have no idea on how to build one. Thanks !

Defiler path cleric with death and suffering domains is fun and popular. Evangelist/bard/dirgesinger is possible but a little tricky. Cloistered with undeath domain and another of your choice is a little boring but solid.

Would love to see how the Defiler one looks like if you have this build somewhere, Im assuming it still gets access to the most powerful undead summons even tho it doesnt use undeath domain.

most powerful "summoner" would still be anything with palemaster

cleric and especially defiler just gets many other tools that makes them overall more versatile and arguably also powerful

but for the best undead summoner palemaster still wins out

both get mummy dust though.

Doesnt' a Cleric Defiler get the same tier of summon as a palemaster ultimately. Palemaster only seem to get better summons early on. Idk , im pretty new to the game and still trying to understand it and appreciate all the info.

palemaster gets free summon casts, passive spell resistance which helps to resist WoF scrolls, and two charges of mummy dust rather than one. i'd say they're a better summoner.

The passive spell resistance which helps to resist WoF scrolls and two charges of mummy dust are big ones. I'll also point out that PM also gets some nice QoL feats, such as Crit Immunity and AC bonuses.

Ok, i'm leaning back at PM again now since summons is my main focus. That being said I read some old comments that Necro Specialist is the worst choice to pair with PM, is that still true? Doesnt Necro spec gives you even more Spell resistance for those wof ? My current one is Illusionist for the extra spell slots tho im unsure if its the right choice.

specialist schools don't get you anything on palemaster because of a design decision that makes it so you need to be more pure wizard to benefit from the perks iirc but I would test it on pgcc to be sure

Yeah , spell resistance from Necro spec. doesnt seem to apply, altho the +2 UCL does work as a palemaster. So im guessing theres no reason to go Necro other then getting stronger summons 2 levels earlier in those early pre-epic levels.

extra spell slots are nice but I would probably do illusion, that way you just drop enchantment instead of divination

Hello. Following up on this thread. This build seems to be something I am gravitating towards as well. PM undead summoner. I'm not interested in PvP builds and due to my work/life schedule I play solo 90% of the time when I am able to log in and play.

Would one of the PM builds on the character compendium thread still be considered the viable option?
