Brogendenstein lacks an outgoing portal accessible to non-Earthkin. While Brogendenstein has two outgoing portals, one is in the docks guardhouse and another is in the Great Grotto. In the case of the former, we had at one time considered opening it to the public to solve the problem, but then it isn't just the guardhouse storage we're effectively making public but the Ironhelm as well. In the case of the latter, the Great Grotto is of course closed to non-Earthkin. The closest public non-restricted portal that combat isn't (usually) involved in reaching is across a server transition and at least one ship ride. For a relatively lower traffic settlement, this can feel prohibitive, especially for low level non-Earthkin characters.
In contrast, Cordor I believe has two conveniently placed outgoing portals. Guldorand has one in the Monastery. I'm not sure of any in Myon's interior (another place once exclusive to race), but their interconnectedness with Guldorand makes the Monastery portal the likely go-to; at the very least they're not having to go into the wilderness or through server transitions/ships. Andunor of course has one. Bendir does not, which might make it a good spot for another addition.
There are a number of ways to potentially fix this...
[*] The easy option. The newish upper-level public access portion of the Grotto gets a portal source. The Lantanese embassy has created a permanent portal source!
[*] The option I'd think was least likely, but is overall a three-way improvement (in my humble opinion). The Grotto could just be opened for public traffic. Hear me out. The lift could still turn away non-svirf UD races, outcasts, pirates, et cetera just like certain NPCs already do. Myon was opened up, and I can't imagine that there are any greater implications to opening up the Grotto than there was with changing the Mythal. This could also solve a few problems peripherally. A lot of non-Earthkin are taking Underdark writs that are very time-consuming to reach without an Earthkin guide, to the point where I think it may discourage some from doing the new writs altogether. Also, it could help out those poor shops that are stuck behind the lift with next to storage level sales, too... You'd have to consider what to do about the Earthkin portal leading to the Spore Forest, though. Maybe make it one-way for some races (not sure if that's the case already).
[*] Some new unsaid location, of course. Thinking about it, maybe Earthkin Keep. Gives it an anchor other than the writs and the Earthkin portal which may encourage its use.
