Factions for Animals

We will file suggestions here that did not make the cut. Don't expect detailed responses, but the most common reasons are:

  • implementing the suggestion is impractical, or too much work for the gain
  • the suggestion is thematically against our design philosophy
  • the suggestion is too detailed/low-level
    Keep your suggestions broad and focused on RP benefits, please, not detailed suggestions of how to fix everything.

Factions for Animals

Recommend adding individual factions to each of the different areas for the animals of that region. All druids are a part of the faction after using -balance in that area at least once. Druids with 75% or more levels in druid slowly shift the animals in the region to neutral and eventually allied units to them. See thread in Q and A for more. Quote below:

Perhaps instead of giving druids AE like rangers key the animals faction off of the AE skill level of the Druid, for example for every (x) ranks of AE on a char with 75% or more Druid levels the animal faction shifts x ranks toward neutral or allied on the faction chart upon spawning in an area

This would be more of an RP element than a buff considering Druids are more in tune with nature, it makes sense that a powerful one would not be attacked by every bear/wolf they come across. It would also help encourage more activity by Druids housed in places like the grove as they would be more apt to be out and about their forest if the notoriously unstealthy Druids did not have to slaughter every animal they came across and have to think up an explanation for such strange behavior.

However as this would work on animals upon spawning, an already angry animal would remain so and be just as hostile as before the Druid came into the area, defending it's territory from the encroacher who arrived before the druid, and an angry animal is not as easily calmed

This can be done without haks as I've seen on another server but the exact method by which it was done is unknown to me
