Appraisal Calculation Question for Low-cost Goods

Post by The_Farmer »

Hello all,
I had a question for how the appraisal function works for cheap goods (e.g., a necklace worth 20 gp)

My understanding is that the calculation is done as follows:
" 300 + (Hard ranks * X) + (Soft ranks * (X - 1)) "

For items that have low values, I was curious as to how is the calculation run.
In my 20gp necklace example above, would the "300" figure simply be traded out for a "20" one?

Thank you in advance for your time and response!

PS: Please find a link to the Appraise wiki guidance below, for reference:

Appraise increases the maximum allowed value for items that exceed the cap.
A 20 GP amulet will not be affected, but one with a value of 500 GPs would reach the cap, and thus need appraise to attain a better value.

Don't click weird links, kiddos.
