Currently characters are locked into a specific set of skintones shortly after creation and can't be changed to tones outside of the selection. The selections are at the same time too small and too wide.
e.g. Moon elves aren't blue. Moon elves have a faint blue shadowing because of their very pale skin, but this doesn't mean they have blue skin. The option at the moment is 78 which is a darker blue tone. 83 also super weird. Cool if that's appropriate for a tiefling now, but that's not what a moon elf looks like. Meanwhile there are plenty of other colour tones that would work for a moon elf which can't be chosen.
Maybe someone could go through the various races and tones and pick lore appropriate ones? If you don't want to do the work to have the right tones for the setting, why lock them in the first place? You could just open it up to anything so that players can adjust as needed, and then if there are a few outliers who do weird stuff, DMs have the power to adjust it.
