Storage Retention for Remade Characters

Post by Xersaoth »

There are some characters who have been part of the Arelith community for over a decade. These characters have accumulated gear and items that have become integral to their identity. Many, if not all of them, now experience stagnation, both mechanically and story-wise.

I propose allowing characters to retain a limited storage of 20 items (excluding gold) when they are remade, for example through the existing citizen storage system.

Of course, there may be concerns about these characters bringing end-game gear to Skal. However, I believe this is not fundamentally different from those players who start with significant advantages due to random awards (vampires!). Unlike those fortunate individuals, these characters have actually earned their benefits, and I see no reason why everything they have earned must be taken away, when they essentially just decide to retrain.

It is important to note that there are notorious villains or reputable heroes among these older characters who can both add to the danger and drive narratives forward in more compelling ways than new characters, whose focus primarily and inevitably lies on grinding for better gear. Unlike them, the older characters would also be subject to more danger from other players due to their reputation.

There also might be concerns about legacy items and vast amounts of coin. However, I would argue that allowing a limited number of items to be carried forward during remaking could lead to item distribution and disappearance much quicker. Without this option, many of these characters along with their items are not going anywhere, as they have not gone anywhere for a very long time.

This may also potentially free up shops and quarters that have been occupied by some people for many years.

Yeap, all I do is complain.
