Remove Undertaker Rhyme's Self-Revive Explanation

We will file suggestions here that did not make the cut. Don't expect detailed responses, but the most common reasons are:

  • implementing the suggestion is impractical, or too much work for the gain
  • the suggestion is thematically against our design philosophy
  • the suggestion is too detailed/low-level
Keep your suggestions broad and focused on RP benefits, please, not detailed suggestions of how to tweak X class.

Remove Undertaker Rhyme's Self-Revive Explanation

Post by Inordinate »

Undertaker Rhyme's explanation about the death self-revive mechanic sits in a weird place where it encourages characters to canonize it in-setting while at least explaining it for people that might not be aware of how it works OOC. I feel that it canonizing the process leans too heavily on the wall (pun intended) and gives unnecessary encouragement to people dropping the "well my god said I can't die yet" line we're all probably loathe to see. We're already not supposed to remember how we died and what happens in the fugue so why give people an in character platform to talk about it and skirt the rules in place?

This is area work so I'll move it to that suggestion section.

I'm going to reject this. As with a lot of Cordor's NPCs this serves to give a brief, clear lesson on how aspects of the server function, in line with the recommendation that Cordor is best for entirely new players. I think the NPC does a good job of explaining death on Arelith.
