Game Time Out While In Play

Question - in the last three weeks or so (lots of Windows updates) my game now boots me quickly if I've not moved or said anything in chat for a few minutes, even during crafting, I get booted from game.

This for instance - I was crafting skleens - only 4 times - so 16 skleens, during a time on UD when lag was not an issue, while I was active in game, I got timed out, though not kicked.

This happens constantly, if say, I leave my laptop to go to the kitchen for food, or let my dogs outside, say 2 minutes tops, I come back to find my PC screen black and my game timed out. I did extend my Windows time out period from 5 minutes to 10, but I thought there might be more to this than I know.

Its happening most often when I am stationary, like in the Hub baby sitting a temporary shop.

You are on a laptop? Have you checked to see if Windows changed any of your power options in the settings? Make sure Windows isn't turning off your hard drive or screen in a short time.

Yes - I changed from 5 minutes to 10 minutes for my screen to black out - or screen saver to start up. But it keeps happening. This just happened right now while I was walking from Sharps to the Hub - I didn't get kicked, but I didn't get xp for the 6 minute tick - and this is very common for me.

I am so confused - either I get bounced out of game, or the game considers me AFK constantly.

Just to confirm, I was not talking about shutting off the screen, but sleeping the hard drive. Set that to never.

Forgive my ignorance - but what is 'Sleeping the Hard Drive'?

I did change my windows time out period to 10 minutes and that helped. But what exactly are you speaking of?

Check your power settings in the control panel. Make sure your screen off time and sleep times are good and long, and I recommend saying 'never sleep':

I even recommend going into the advanced power settings and make sure you hard disk has a nice long turn off time, at least near the server boot time:
