Using Awards to Reset Some/All Crafting Points

Post by Beefcake »

Hello all!

Suggestion:
I would like to suggest being able to use awards on an existing character to reset some or all of their crafting points so they could change crafts.

Reasoning:
It has always seemed odd that a character is locked into their crafts, despite the fact that they could apprentice under a master and learn something new at the cost of their former knowledge. On the flip side, a master smith suddenly becoming a master carpenter might be a bit jarring, though with characters being able to re-level and completely change mechanical attributes like classes and skills, this seems a small thing.

There is always a discussion on finding more and interesting things to spend awards on and this fits that bill without adding more mechanical power to characters. More importantly, it fills a roleplaying void that has always existed in Arelith.

Considerations:

  • Each award tier allows a certain number of points reassigned, with major perhaps reassigning all

  • Awards cooldowns can be respected still

  • If the idea of a drastic change in crafting is too jarring, perhaps add a small script to only allow a certain number of CP to be reassigned per a certain time frame, signifying the time required to learn something new

Thanks!
