I love totem druids, but I don't love their lack of basic damage viability. The wiki claims:
"Totem druids don't merge weapons by design, for balance reasons. Since a wildshaper has a high natural Strength they will do significant amounts of damage anyway, so allowing (say) masterly damask to stack would have been unbalancing, and would have encouraged druids to use metal weapons. "
Now, I'm not suggesting we make totem druids merge weapons. But I am pointing out that the claim "they will do significant amounts of damage anyway" is false. Even with the totem's enormous strength mods, totem druids are not out here doing "significant amounts of damage" to anything. The damage caps at 21-24 per attack at 3 attacks per round (assuming maximum totem druid and maximum soft strength bonus). Against enemies with damage resistance this ends up being close to or equal to zero.
This suggestion is not new - five years ago, a request to give totem druids DR pierce was approved, but it has not yet been implemented. The post in question: viewtopic.php?t=31412 .
