Warlock / harbinger

Post by Jagel »

How does the class synergy between harbinger and warlock work?

The feat on the harbinger article seems to suggest heavy harbinger with a warlock dip while starpact’s hex synergy would suggest the opposite.

Is the combination viable or is it a bit of a trap?

Warlock is a solid option for a 27 Harbinger's final three levels, absolutely not a trap.

Eldritch Patronage (the feat to scale with warlock) has some neat goodies, retains 30 CL, you gain the benefits of a minor pact which isn't insignificant, and you have access to practically all skills through Warlock if you've held your skillpoints. You'll get the level 28 benefits of Mortality Undone if you've taken that. Your eldritch blast is surprisingly strong due to the half scaling but probably not worth using over a cantrip or other ranged option.

I have no idea about a majority warlock with harbinger, at a glance I'm not really seeing any point to that.

All harbinger's multiclass options are focused on harbing's own abilities. For example, harbingers maintains full cl progression, and abilities that scale with harbinger levels. A deep harbinger with a dip warlock is good, with -yoink, tumbler and UMD.

However, half warlock with half harbinger sounds awful. All your warlock spells are of low cl that could be dispeled easily. Besides, you are sacrificing your weapon hex in return for a eldritch blast weaker than warlocks. Let alone these attractive harbinger feats. That's painful dude.
