Settlement's trade convoy

We will file suggestions here that did not make the cut. Don't expect detailed responses, but the most common reasons are:

  • implementing the suggestion is impractical, or too much work for the gain
  • the suggestion is thematically against our design philosophy
  • the suggestion is too detailed/low-level
Keep your suggestions broad and focused on RP benefits, please, not detailed suggestions of how to fix everything.

Settlement's trade convoy

Post by livingNPC »

Once a RL week, settlements who has trade, send a NPC convoy from settlement, to the other. The convoy carries an item called Materials. (we'll get back to the materials in a bit)

The NPC convoy needs to be protected from bandits, be they NPCs or PCs, so settlements have to invest coin in hiring PC bodyguards. The NPC convoy can also be buffed by PCs, or coins, for better quality convoys. Once the convoy reaches it's destination, the trade between settlements is made.

Each settlement sends out one convoy, for each settlement they are trading with and it travels to it's destinations. Factions leaders set when in the week the convoy leaves, sothat PCs can be arranged to escort it, and rogues will need to find out when it leaves, to that the player bandits can prepare the raid on the convoy.

If the convoy is killed, it drops an item called "Materials", the materials needs to be laundered, by a blackmarket type of NPC, which turns the "Materials" either into coins, or into "clean resources" that can be dropped into a settlements resources chests.

This a great way to cripple settlements during wars, or finally making an impact on a settlement, where the kill script usually would stop you.

Mith might remember this from the old forums, said he liked it but didn't know when he'd get around to it.
