Change the damage and critical of some weapons

We will file suggestions here that did not make the cut. Don't expect detailed responses, but the most common reasons are:

  • implementing the suggestion is impractical, or too much work for the gain
  • the suggestion is thematically against our design philosophy
  • the suggestion is too detailed/low-level
    Keep your suggestions broad and focused on RP benefits, please, not detailed suggestions of how to fix everything.

Change the damage and critical of some weapons

I hope I'm not typing a wall of text about something that can't be changed without haks.

Change the following weapons:

Longsword/Battleaxe/Warhammer:
1d8 -> 1d6 damage
19-20 2x -> 18-20 2x critical
aka same as scimitar/rapier.

Greataxe
1d12 -> 2d6
Increases average damage by whole 0.5!

Halberd
1d10->2d6
Change from slashing/piercing to slashing only.
I honestly don't see the slashing/piercing doing anything worthwhile for the weapon, so making it more alike to the greatsword could give more variance.

Heavy Flail
1d10 -> 1d12
Just an increase of average damage of 1.

Bastard Sword
19-20 2x -> 18-20x
Right now, the bastard sword is weaker than the katana(katana being able to be dual wielded) and the scimitar/rapier, increasing it's critical range like a scimitar or rapier will make it slightly stronger(with 2 more average damage), making the flavor option at least not an entire waste.


There's other weapons I've in mind that could use some changing, but I'd like to first know if these are possible and if Mith agrees/is willing :P

I also thought about the following for Battleaxe and Warhammer, but unless my math is wrong, they'd become stronger than the scimitar.

Battleaxe and Warhammer:
20 3x -> 19-20 3x
The damage increase should function like the following:
c=critical rate(from 0.5 to 0.05)
m=multiplier


m*(1+c)=damage increase

So a WM scimitar will have 3*(1+0.5)=4.5 damage increase.
With the above change to BAxe/Whammer, their damage increase(as a WM) will be of 4*(1+0.35)=5.4 damage increase.

If there's a way to make that work without making them significantly stronger, that'd be nice.
